Yorksubslave -> French Maid training (12/28/2009 8:45:09 AM)

Mistresses,

I'm hoping one of you may kindly be able to help me. This new year I'm intending to spend a few hours a day dressed as a French maid, slowly getting used to the outfit with the eventual aim of serving as one. Before I purchase anything, I would welcome your thoughts on how best a maid should be turned out: rubber, high-quality old-fashioned clothing, good underwear, chastity, etc, are all areas I would welcome guidance on prior to purchasing anything.

With thanks,
Richard

Ok, I know my profile says sub, but I've been working this housework angle to get a young man in service at my home (not full time). I've corresponded with several men on the subject. And, I rather enjoy performing house servicey type acts myself . So I feel somewhat qualified to answer.

That you would require several hours a day for who knows how many days to "get used to the outfit" does not sound promising in terms of your ability to serve. It sounds like you may ejaculate within seconds of being handed a sponge.

If you want to dress up as a french maid and role-play, advertise as such. If you want to actually serve or be trained as a maid, well, it doesn't really sound like you want to perform any maid-like tasks. If you don't, it doesn't really matter how you are turned out, someone looking to train a french maid is going to be frustrated by you.

Looking a part and playing a part... doesn't mean becoming that part. If you wish to really serve... be prepared to get dirty in that fancy maid outfit.

I won't speak for everyone... but typically someone who wants to serve or clean doesn't dress up for it. Those that do are more interested in dressing up than they are doing anything of substance and tend to watch themselves flipping a duster more than anything else.

If you really wish to serve... find dominant's that are interested in your serving and then go by what they want you to wear. If it is really for you.... buy whatever you want.

I can't begin to describe the glee I feel having discovered that one of the top returns on google for "french maid costume" is one from Walgreens, plus size (that's for you, men) 16-22.

peppermint -> RE: French Maid training (12/28/2009 9:27:06 AM)

As far as clothing goes you need to decide what your fantasy is and which types of clothing would best suit the fantasy.  If you are into rubber, then look toward rubber.  If you are more interested in frillies, then look for lace and ruffles.  It's your choice.

You might also enjoy researching how best to clean certain household items.  You'll need to know what is best for dusting and what polishes give the best results.  Research the various ways to polish silver.

Ladies,

Many thanks for all your help. Rest assured I would gladly wear whatever my mistress decreed (and be happy to get dirty as such!). I simply seek guidance on what to wear for training until I meet the right lady - some online training may be in order I guess!

CarrieO -> RE: French Maid training (12/28/2009 9:43:46 AM)

OP,

I'm curious, why the interest in what you wear until you meet a Domme?  Is it because you enjoy dressing up or becasue you feel this type of outfit would put you in the "appropriate" mindset?

I feel I really can't offer more until I get an understanding of your reasons.  Thanks.

Since you live in the UK, I suggest you skip the French maid outfit entirely.  Instead, look into enrolling yourself into one of the schools for butlers and valets.  The curriculum teaches you how to clean and maintain a wardrobe, set a table for a formal meal, serve tea, and many other highly valuable skills any servant should have.  You'll also learn how to conduct yourself with decorum, which is a skill many submissive men lack.  Training as a butler is one of the best ways you can prepare yourself to serve a dominant woman.  The kinky stuff like cross-dressing, chastity devices, etc. are an unnecessary distraction that can come later when you find the right domina.

I have spent my day cleaning house for my Lady in just such an outfit - gray sweatshirt, black sweatpants.  I have girlie undies on, but hey, that is a daily occurrence.  [;)]

A typical French Maid outfit would only be applicable for actual service of guests in a tea or hosting situation.  You are not going to be hoisting trash bags in 4 inch heels, scrubbing wet dirty floors in poofy skirts, or hand washing laundry with your delicate lace gloves.  Such an outfit is appropriate for dress or formal service for a few hours at most where you would be carrying and serving drinks or light food, greeting guests and hanging coats.

And you are going to be of NO use in that getup to anyone doing any real work.  At most you might dust in such a get up.

S&M does not mean "Stand and Model"

Don't get me wrong, it can be a great outfit to have, but unrealistic for most useful situations.  You might get use out of it once a year for a few hours...maybe twice if you are lucky and someone is hosting tea parties or looking for sissy servers for events.  Otherwise, it is just closet filler or wank-wear ("Wank-Wear" TM by Ottersswim, 2009, all rights reserved).

This will bring the most success for the OP in the genre he supposedly seeks.

Otters!! I cannot just stand and model? I am all emo now! [;)]

OP, what everyone else said. A person tricked out in a maid's uniform, be it frilly or tailored, is a fine thing when dinner is being served, but when I want CLEANING done, I expect that the clothing will not get in the way. Learn the skills first, get the costume later.

Otter, great line.

OP, why do you need any clothing for cleaning duty? Some knee pads for floor scrubbing should be sufficient and a bowl of gruel at the end of the day. Hope you find your dream.

Oh, well...if we're going with fantasy attire, then I want my maid in nothing but a collar and chains.  She can wear makeup if she wants but it's not required.  [:D]

Generally this line of questioning turns you into a pinata here, and as you've probably learned, you're on your own. Don't lose faith that you can break from traditional roles and male attire, but at the same time remember that hostility and derision come with the territory. The idea that you can't do real work in a French Maid's uniform is wrong, and the idea that you should be a butler is bigoted bullshit. Lastly, the idea that wanting to be a french maid is a "modeling only" proposition is a slanderous, stereotype.

The salient fact here is a hostility to cross dressing -- from which come derivative rationales. Bypass all this, if you can, and just find someone who can appreciate you.

Dude...really?  I am as far from hostile to crossdressing as it is possible to get!  But honestly, there has to be a level of realism and rationality to it all for it to work in a life setting and someone looking to buy the outfit in order to somehow "train" up is just silly.

We want the outfit because it makes us feel pretty, not because it is proper for actually doing work.  So yea, in many the expectation is to not get dirty, not have to scrub, scour, or tote that barge or lift that bail.   French Maid outfits are for the parlor, the dining room, or the tea room, not the kitchen, laundry, or bath, and they are not for heavy labor or for cleaning, they are for decorous serving.

It's great to have fantasy, but when you take the fantasy out of your head and into real life, you gotta temper it with some realism, or you will just get laughed out of the room...
