I'll just focus on starting threads that address real issues, get people thinking and evolving. For those who want trashy threads, there will be plenty to go around. She's been starting threads for a few days now, and I'm not sure osf has posted on a single one of them. Pathological narcissists are unable to talk about anything except themselves. Please consider starting threads, too. I am certain you have much more to contribute than some other people who have been posting a lot more. If we want a message board that is closer to "best possible," we each have to do a little something to make it that way. Red, I don't devote so much of my spare time to this site to have a strong desire either way to start threads or see others discontinued. I do hold the opinion that your contribution in no way equates to the number of threads you start or indeed even the number of posts you make. Like much of life, quality is king. Whilst being very liberal in my life, I do believe in some censorship and moderation. You do too, you've signed on to a site you know to be moderated. Absolute freedom can be as dangerous as absolute tyranny. I wasn't noticing the boards much in recent years to know if conditions were stricter as some have suggested, but I wouldn't like to see it swing the other way either. I'm not convinced that the self-policing argument put forward works, or of it does, it only works in time for the next transgressor to come along. I just dont think the 'best possible' forum as you described it, exists - as there would be as many definitions of that as there are members. So - if I ever find myself bothered to the point of action - the action is usually hitting the off switch, still the best means of censorship. Since you raised osf's name, I will say that I stick more than ever to my original opinion. A troll in a suit feigning earnest questions is still a troll. Actions taken merely to elicit response and attention evoke pathos but nothing else from me. A sideshow can be briefly diverting, but not the umpteenth showing of an act that never had much plot or action to begin with. Then, when the cast starts heckling with the audience, you know its time to leave. Ad nauseum. All the best.
