Hope you don't mind a male reply (since you addressed your question to dominant women). i agree with Drifa and LadyPact. The biggest change that i've seen has been the internet. The changes that the internet has brought has been both good and bad. On the positive side, the internet has opened up far more ways for novices to learn about WIITWD. It has also opened up new avenues to buy a wide variety of BDSM merchandise that was lacking in many cities (especially smaller towns). i lived in a southern city (in the heart of the Bible belt) for many years, and it was VERY difficult to find a place to buy BDSM supplies. The internet has eliminated that problem. On the negative side, the internet has allowed many voyeurs, and fakes to enter our world. So we see lots of people on here who create profiles, but really don't have the courage to actually meet with anyone and to make their fantasies into reality. In the old days, you had to put yourself out there in order to meet people and to learn about the lifestyle. Nowadays, the internet provides a level of anonymity that makes it too easy for people to do and say things that they would NEVER do or say if they were meeting face-to-face. Also, in this post 9-11 era, we have to be very careful if we choose to attend a BDSM event in another country. i attended an event in Canada, and when i came back across the US border, they searched my car. Suffice it to say that i got some strange stares as they went through the items in my trunk. i could tell that the border patrol officers were suspicious about what some of the items were, but they determined that i was not a terrorist, so they let me go without incident. i was just happy that they didn't make me explain what each of the items was, and what it was used for.
