Greetings spirit, Well you know, as far as the books go, I believe Nephilim is right to observe that a slave's legal status as a slave does not suddenly change by virtue of her finding herself unowned by anyone at the moment. On the other hand, neither does being free require a female to behave like a classic Free Woman of the high cities. Personally, I am fine with unowned slaves, as long as they behave like slaves, and equally comfortable with a woman whose behavior is very submissive even though she is free. But I think the latter a better solution in a case such as yours. I am not, you see, at all fond of slaves who decline to obey, however politely, unless it reflects a restriction that has been placed upon them by their owner, whose will with regard to his property is something I would be strongly inclined to respect in most cases. And as a practical matter, not having to obey every damn fool who orders her around is a valuable option to a girl who is a slave at heart but currently unowned. There is, after all, little doubt that the incongruity of her free status will be corrected quickly enough when she meets the right man. So in the meantime, I would recommend you accept being free. IWYW, Kirata
