though I may prefer cuffs, i would rather be bound with nylon stockings - it just has a certain feel to it that is erotic and kinky when bound

The trick is to keep the nylon flat against the skin.  Like silk, if nylon is improperly tied it can form sharp ridges that can actually cut the skin during a session, particularly if there is a lot of movement

Trying to come up with a smart ass response I recall an event from my childhood.  My brother and I were being our usual terrors and my father, in a fit of frustration stapled us to the wall through our clothing.

Course modern drywall doesn't hold staples as well I think I am going to have to figure out how to add a stapler to my toybag.  I wonder if they allow air compressors into Power Exchange?

I prefer to use steel restraints lined with garmet leather. I also choose chain over rope. Metal has a sense of permanence and durability that other things lack.

not bad Sir;  but how about making a wall  and covering it for use with Velcro restraints, of a suite, just  peel en paste so to speak, with respect naturally;

My Master prefers me in metal and I have permanent shakles fitted which were made to the exact shape of my ankles. The bangles are gold and jewelled and are joined by 12 inches of titanium chain.

I love restraints of all variety....each has  merit in their own way....for the short term...i love things that will chafe or slightly bruise....the lingering effects keep me  in  a very nice headspace.

i like the way that rope can be beautifully spontaneous (ie, you can sneak a roll of rope anywhere in your pocket and whip it out as and when in a way that you just can't with a run of chain..) and also that it holds to the shape of the wearer more easily than most metal....
but i have to admit i have a serious weakness for metal - there's just something wonderfully deliberate about it - the fact that it isn't there for any other purpose just makes me squirm ....

Most of the time I use Humane Restraint's best on my subs.  They're leather,  smell great,  have a very purposeful look (they're made for hospitals and mental asylums),  padded,  very tight and they lock!  Without the key,  you're not getting out.

Rope is terrific for traveling.  No one suspects. And it can be cinched up TIGHT and very effective.

Metal shackles are expensive and tough to travel with.  They are however,  very erotic and my subs love 'em!  -Master Virage

if you really want metal cuffs they make leather wrist bands that meal cuffs go over to protect the wrist.
but leather is the way to go for longer term wearing.

I really prefer the cuffs I make to others I've seen (yes, I know I have an inherent bias).  They are all metal, but don't need any kind of lining to be worn comfortably long-term.

Two Suggestion:
1-     have sub wear around wrist or ankle a  padded of material (leather, thick felt, rubber/,neoprene, cloth, etc) take measurement around them. Than order the corresponding size of iron restraint. Once acquired than using the same material and contact cement; attach them to the inside. When soiled or damaged a new piece can be fitted in easily.
I    2- If already equipped, than try some thin-medium thick neoprene wide bands cut a bit larger than cuff under the restraint. I have run across some thin high density foam packing material that may also be suitable.

i love leather so all my cuffs are leather, or course i have used the metal ones and found if you put a silk scarf around the ankle or wrist first its not as harsh on the skin.

I have been through several sets of restraints from neoprene with velcro to in expensive leather.  I finally purchased a nice locking set of leather lined locking cuffs and have been very pleased with them.  I then bought a complete set of cuffs off ebay because I wanted a matching set for all body parts.  I was disapointed with them do to their quality and construction.  They were not lined, had rough edges, were too narrow and some were too short or too long.  After this, I sought after a very high end set of cuffs and took my time and looked for quality.  I ended up with Aslan padded locking wrist and ankle cuffs.  These cuffs are the best set I now have.

Hi Understud. My favorite is my Thick Leather Ankle and Wrist Cuffs, which a Pad Lock can be added, or just rope from the ceiling or bed posts.

Wish I had them on now, BalletBob

Parachute cord. Also called "550 cord"

It is elastic and spongy. Besides handcuffs it was the first type of restraint I used.

Another vote here for Leather By Danny's Grip Cuffs.  I like a nice, long session, and I like to be able to struggle against the restraint, so something comfortable is paramount.  Don't want to have to stop early because of problems, and these cuffs are wonderfully comfy but still very secure.  A set of little padlocks, and you've got that point-of-no-return thrill that a good metal lock gives.  If you want more clinking metal, you can attach them to nice heavy chains.  I have a set where the grip bar is removable, which gives excellent flexibility of use.

I'm not very flexible, physically, so that does limit what sort of positions I can enjoy.  Arm binders wouldn't be possible, for example, at least not without permanent damage.  I like the suggestion of attaching bungee cords to cuffs, I can just imagine starting out with lots of play, and then the cords gradually being pulled tighter and tighter....yum!

Panic snaps are a must!  They're a very fast way to release restraints even if there's a person's full weight on them.  I want to concentrate on the sensations I'm feeling, and worry about safety is very distracting for me.  I'd much rather be free to worry about what's coming out of the toy bag next. >:-)

My favorite restraints are Reindeer fur-lined leather made by flogger.com. They are very well made, gorgeous, extremely comfortable over long periods of time and very secure. I've been very happy with everything that I've acquired from them.

1. Homemade wide, wool lined leather cuffs with 2 buckles and multiple D-ring attach points.
2. Medical restraints
3. Rope
