I think the Gor books really are about life on earth. Lange was upset with the feminist movement and the books are his reaction, pretty much.
While RPG folks know more about the intricacies of the novels than I do, I think those of us who ID as Gorean, found the essential philosophy, the worldview, to be very compatible with our previously held, perhaps innate, moral compass.

I clearly DO feel more comfortable around Goreans than any other group that tend to congregate on so-called D-s or BDSM sites and so forth.

I would suggest that most of us can recognize that there are vast differences between practice here in RL as opposed to the novels.
Yet the essence is the same, I do believe.
