The only thing I saw over $3 is Magicians, at $10.

I remember when some of the books, in sets, sold for hundreds of dollars.

Status: offline 		I posted a thread about a year ago...a used book vendor who was also a Gorean.  I can't find the link, but it is somewhere on the Gor boards...he was canadian, and the company name was something like cranberry turtle, though that is not the name....read back, try and find it. He had good prices on Gor and other interesting books (for instance, he had most of the Lensman series by E E Smith).

Several of the books are available for purchase new, both in paper and electronic editions.

Dr. Lange and his agent at his literary agency have threatened to pursue action against those sharing his work illegally.

Status: offline 		... sharing electronic versions of the books is in fact illegal.  Its the same concept as sharing music and movies electronically.  Please respect the authors and publishers enough not to do so.  People are able to buy the electronic versions as well as hard copy so there is no need to share electronic versions.

This subject has come up recently on several Gorean venues I frequent.

Back before the turn of the century some of us worked with the Richard Curtis Agency (Lange's literary agency) to discover the online venues that were stealing monies from the author by illegally distributing his work. All were contacted by the appropriate persons and had the files removed or the site shut down.

Oh, and we were seen as being the bad guys, for doing so.

Buy the books, folks. If you cannot afford the recent republished ones, buy them used. If you want to read them on your Ipad, or wherever, pay the author for the right to do so.

The crux of the matter should be this: No one will ever know of you go out and illegally share Dr. Lange's work.

No one but you and the person who accepts the file.

But that should be enough.

Status: offline 		Rule, I completely understand your point, but consider that for Gorean men and women it's about more than the simple act of theft, which you and about a million other people of your generation have managed to rationalize to yourselves.

For us, there is the ancillary issue of supporting the author's work through our purchases, which allows him to have further work widely published and available for our enjoyment and enlightenment.

I've had a lot of my own writings on living Gorean republished online without my permission. When I find them, however, almost every single one was republished by a non-Gorean gamer site. Each of those that I know of that have been published by those whom I know to live Gorean in this society have first asked me for my permission (which I routinely grant - I mean it's not like my writings have any earth-shattering significance nor much value outside the community of Goreans).

Any behavior can be rationalized. In the end, to those who don't understand our objections to cheating the author of honest recompense for his efforts, the confusion is understandable.

It's just a Gorean thing, perhaps.
