Cataract surgery - finally.

I can't complain because I hear it usually takes longer to get it done, unless you want to pay big. It's still been months. It seems when these things start to go, it accelerates and gets worse fast. Right now in my right eye what I see is the equivalent of looking through a piece of waxed paper. Driving at night ? Hell I shouldn't be out walking at night. Riding a bicycle would probably be stupid any time of the day. (no mirrors)

I may have mentioned that they already have me measured up for the other eye. Well, it's the same age. I'm told that once the right is done I'll want the other one done. I believe I heard the words ".. once you can see ....." LOL.  Now I believe them. Even though my left was my weaker eye, it seems to have gotten worse.

People put links in here to articles and sometimes I can't read the whole thing. For many years I've said the whole thing about computers, with the black text on white, was a bad idea. Part of it being eyestrain, another being it wasted some CRTs. I liked the look of DOS. This is so many years ago. Perhaps this was coming on for ten years. More even.

What I meant by new outlook is that I have alot of trouble working as well, and it's not just because of everything getting smaller. I can read just fine, but only so much. What's more if I have any future where I work I'll have to wear more hats and alot of that is going to require working online with the computer. Wonderful. Even at that I will have to do most of the alignments. Umm, remember this is home theater and such, in layman's terms, - TVs ! Display devices. Fucking blind TV technician. Yup.

It's to the point where alignments are really difficult. Any amount of glare and I can't see the display. So I turn some lights off and now I can't see the remote. (you don't use a screwdriver anymore, you use the remote and a special code) So here I am using a flashlight after turning the lights off. Now nobody else can see. Kinda hard to be a team player eh ?

There are other things. Did some remodeling, in fact I like doing that. Getting just the right interaction with the customer and getting the plan right the first time. Not just jotting down the specifications, looking at them (here we go on that being able to see thing), finding the pitfalls aforehand. But that's not the whole story, you have to be able to do what you say. Put it this way, I could build you a house, but it will be whatever size it comes out because I can't read the tape measure. Not easily. Can't read it with my glasses on, and with my glasses off I have to get within about six inches to read it. That'd be really great on a worksite huh.

With my general health coming back and being able to see, this might not be too bad a year. I don't count on much of anything long term. But I can do many things. That's freedom in a way. Even if I have to take a "regular" job, I can say " How do you need me to fit in the plan here ? " or, "Fuck off". I want that back. Right now I consider myself close to useless.

Still can't believe I'm fifty. I used to think that was two lifetimes.

It all changes next month. On the 7th is preop, 8th the op, and postop on the 9th. The left eye is already scheduled for the 22nd, with postop on the 23rd.

See you around then AR AR AR AR AR.

T^T

Have you discussed what to set the implants for? Mine are for reading. So I only use my glasses for watching tv and driving and other distance things.

I've got to say though that my night vision never really recovered. I can drive a couple of miles on the back roads or in town where there are streetlights. But main roads going 55? Not a chance.
