CalifChick -> Calibirthday 2011 - July 20-26 (2/25/2011 3:58:07 PM)

For those trips down memory lane:

Calibirthday 2010
Calibirthday 2009
Calibirthday 2008

With all the turmoil around the world, I've been advised it's better to snag airlines tickets now rather than later. I spoke to Hib about what we should do this year, and we decided to go back to the same place as last year, same motel, on St. Pete Beach.

Miss Francine and I are flying in on Wednesday, July 20, around 5pm. Greeds! Book us a room for the night sistah!
We are flying out on Tuesday, July 26 (the actual bday) around 8:30 or 9 am. Greeds! Another room night! July 25!

If anyone wants to come, we'll be there, finding our happy place floating in the ocean.

Hib and anyone else flying out of Detroit (DTW):
United 1775, departs DTW at 11:55 am on 7/20/2011, arrives Charlotte 1:42 pm
United 1530, departs CLT at 2:40 pm on 7/20/2011, arrives Tampa 4:23 pm
United 3352, departs TPA at 8:20 am on 7/26/2011, arrives Neward (EWR) 10:59 am
United 4528, departs EWR at 1:20 pm on 7/26/2011, arrives DTW 3:11 pm
Cost: $220. United charges $25 for the first checked bag, so $50 roundtrip added to check one bag.

Red and anyone else flying out of Dulles (IAD):
Jetblue - $342 (first bag free)
United - $270-280, depending on if you use Travelocity or the United site (United was cheaper) (first bag $25)
Southwest - $360 (first bag free)

Wylhrt and anyone else in southern California:
Flying out of Long Beach on Jet Blue - $700 (holy smokes!)
Flying out of LAX or Ontario on Southwest - $480; flying out of Burbank is $510
Flying out of LAX on Continental Airlines - $387
Flying out of San Diego on Continental - $324

kc692 or anyone else in bumfuck egypt... aka, Dothan, Alabama:
I was shocked to learn that Delta actually flies to Dothan... and stops there (not just makes a flyby and pushes you out) - $360

Lushy and anyone else in the Chicago area:
Flying out of Midway on AirTran - $315 ($20 for first checked bag each way)
Flying out of Midway on Southwest - $360 (free bag)
Flying out of Ohare on Jetblue - $390

Moga and anyone else in Phoenix:
Flying on Southwest - $430
Flying on Continental - $217

Gather up those pennies, children! Florida here we come!

Cali

You didn't include Denver as a fly-out-of location.  [sm=anger.gif]

FukinTroll -> RE: Calibirthday 2011 - July 20-26 (2/25/2011 7:44:48 PM)

Southwest, $410

Get in line.

For the shampoo-girly-man-top in Dayton and anyone else there (bwah hah hah... like anyone lives in Dayton):
United or Continental - $296
US Airways - $310
Airtran -$286

GreedyTop -> RE: Calibirthday 2011 - July 20-26 (2/26/2011 1:48:58 AM)

Cali.. will do.. (and check your cmail, pls)

DarkSteven -> RE: Calibirthday 2011 - July 20-26 (2/26/2011 3:54:56 AM)

Can being in Dayton really be considered 'living'?

YSG -> RE: Calibirthday 2011 - July 20-26 (2/26/2011 4:28:51 AM)

Hey hey hey hey hey, Dayton's a decent place. Could be worse, like living in Indiana or something. At least Dayton has Wright Patterson (AWESOME millitary air museum).

ShaharThorne -> RE: Calibirthday 2011 - July 20-26 (2/26/2011 4:38:07 AM)

Make sure to look up Texas airports.  Cannot come this year due to an anime con in June but I figure that someone (Mystic) would want to know...

Actually Cali, there is an extra charge for the push. Most just take the option of riding on the wing.

*pokes Holly*  dammit, woman..I need you yo read my last email to you!

CalifChick -> RE: Calibirthday 2011 - July 20-26 (2/26/2011 7:38:02 AM)

Houston Intercontinental - United or Continental $379 (since United and Continental just merged, you will often see the same fares on both)
Houston Hobby - Southwest $380
Dallas - AirTran $358 or US Airways $392

I've been surprised that Southwest is not cheaper in many cases.  For a no-frills airline, they sure are charging alot.

Read FukinTroll's profile.  LOL.

On another note, the motel gave me a discount for being a returning guest.  Hib!  That's FIFTY BUCKS saved that we can spend on pitchers of sangria at that little Italian place and on the all-you-can-eat-crabfeast!!!  WOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cali

Google "prepaid gallons" + gasoline.  Similar to a prepaid credit card, you can prepay gallons of gas, which locks in the current rate.
