Rent must be late this month. On-topic, it depends on the type of scene we're doing, how tall my partner is and how much s/he weighs. I'm 5'3" and I weigh 122 lbs. give or take a couple of pounds. If the person is close to my height/weight, I'll do OTK if it's appropriate to the scene (e.g. school girl/strict teacher). Otherwise, I'll have him/her bend over my coffee table, which is about the same height as a spanking bench, or lay flat on the bed.

Right, is this still a discussion, or just a complete fuckfest? Anyway, I personally prefer a bed or bench when being spanked, simply due to my back issues. On the occasions that I top, I prefer to use my lap.

I love OTK when it's someone I know and trust well. Otherwise, bench or horse works well and gives a more formal distance. I haven't used any of the fancier spanking benches--I've been eyeing up a lot of the blueprints however....

Both! Neither is particularly better, really. I like the bent over position (not OTK) when I am doling out a real punishment for breaking a rule or doing something that displeased me. I do not want him to have the added enjoyment of rubbing up against me, feeling my body against him or feeling me as I raise my hand and therefore bracing himself. I prefer OTK when it is a spanking just for the sake of spanking him. In that case, I want to feel him get hard.
