Interested in corset as well.... are they still available...and how does one figure out the sizing???? I have ample hips but in comparison my waiste seems tiny...and no Im not thin! I can be reached at [email protected]

Sissyslave71 -> RE: Corsets (2/21/2005 1:36:08 PM)

Hello dsamethyst.......

Of course corsets are still available. The come in many fabrics and colors now.
More importantly..there are "show" corsets..and tightlacing corsets.
The "show corsets" tend to be cheaply made and are just an appearance aid,
whereas a truly tailored-to-your-size corset is for true waist reduction
and strict figure training.

I don't claim to be an expert but if you are serious about having a smaller
waist, bigger buttocks and a slightly larger bustline, a real corset will work wonders...
It did for me.
Youll have to wear one constantly to have a real effect though. Not easy at all.
I did for two years..but now I am off and on
mostly, although I hope to return someday to a strict program with a dominant to encourage me.
What's interesting is the corset can transfer fat away from the waist to those other "Curvy"
areas to make you even more curvier!

I have had a few custom corsets made here:

http://www.waspcreations.com

The best in my humble opinion.

They are soooo comfortable...but very restricting.
I thew out my old Fredericks corset after getting one.
These will NOT dig into your bones...because they are specifically
tailored to your own measurements. They "seat" perfectly
onto your torso!

A sidenote...they also force you to sit with your back arched forward.
It will really improve your sitting posture.

My only warning is ...wear a corset liner or nylon spandex bodysuit underneath it
because you dont want your body oils ruining the expensive thing.
I prefer my corsets to be cotton because they can be washed and they are the most firm and controlling.
My first one I bought from this retailer has lasted 5 years, although I would only use it as a sleeeping corset now.

Take care of your skin with lotion everyday too...or it will chap..believe it or not, which hurts like hell.
If you plan on wearing it 24-7...make sure you take at least a half an hour a day after a shower to
exercise your back muscles..or they will atrophy.

If you need anymore advice..I hope I can help.

I know...it sounds weird coming from a male...but sissies are a LOT different than most males!!!

firefey -> RE: Corsets (2/22/2005 2:18:31 PM)

i make custom corsets too, and i have to say, it's the way to go. even for show corsets. every time i see a fredrick's corset and it's bunching and pinching, i just cringe. also, most women don't have off the rack bodies, so off the rack corsets won't look good. and men, well...i think sissy said it best.

suberic -> RE: Corsets (2/22/2005 2:42:04 PM)

Mmmmmm corsets...

I love seeing ladies in them, and I love wearing them.

Unfortunately the only custom job that was made for me is a piece of crap, thrown together in about a half an hour after paying for it two weeks previous.

I want to get another custom corset made, but don't have the money right now. Oh well.

firefey -> RE: Corsets (2/22/2005 3:00:06 PM)

i'm sorry you ended up with a piece of crap. that sucks. a corset simply cannot be made in half an hour. it's kind like rome in that respect.

MasterRedemption -> RE: Corsets (2/22/2005 5:39:11 PM)

suberic .. go to www.paulcleather.com they are based in Chicago .. and I have had many a corset made by them .. top quality and not too expensive. Many other leather shops in Chicago buy theirs and re-sell them

Actually, I know a corsetier who can put together a tighlacing peice in about an hour. This assumes, of course, she's either already drafted a pattern for you or you've bought an off-the-rack size.

(She's way out of my price range, though :) )

What is it that makes them the "best", in your opinion?

Sissyslave71 -> RE: Corsets (2/22/2005 8:30:40 PM)

The best all around.

*Price wise for a custom,

*quality of materials

*and how it fits.

They certainly puts Vollers so-called "premium" Corsets to shame...this much is certain.

Ive never tried any C&S corsetry and ive heard they are top rated.

Do you own any other corsetieres' offerings? You might want to examine the work of some of these individuals before handing out that crown so quickly. There are a lot of people out there producing very high quality corsets these days.

Isabella Costumiere
Starkers
Dark Garden
Delicious Corsets
Meschantes

That's just off the top of my head.

Sissyslave71 -> RE: Corsets (2/23/2005 2:48:52 PM)

Ummmmmmm...

Yeah..Ive checked other merchants..and i WASNT SATISFIED...ok?

The matrials alone...something SIMPLE like what type of metal alloy a busk is made out of
can mean the difference between RUST on your corset or a superior shine.

Ive done my research...no need to lecture me.

stef -> RE: Corsets (2/23/2005 6:17:40 PM)

Very interesting. Since most of the corsetieres buy their busks from the same tiny handful of manufacturers, I'm curious how much difference there is between what "Company A" and "Company B" uses in their creations. Care to share your research data with your fellow corsetting afficionados?

suberic -> RE: Corsets (2/23/2005 6:24:04 PM)

Okay, can I suggest something here?

Sissyslave obviously doesn't like anyone but Amy's corsets, and sfgrrl does seem to like other's corsets.

This is a matter of personal preference, nothing more. There are corseteers that I know that I love their work. Just today, I saw the most inovative corset ever, double busked, and a beautiful wolf's head on the front pannel. Custom made, not in a shop. Previous to that I saw a beautiful Star Brite corset that I thought was wonderful.

So that's personal preference. Opinion. It's different for everyone.

So may I suggest that while opinions are like assholes, let's not become one and keep it to an interesting discussion without the sarcasm and so on. Please?

Sissyslave71 -> RE: Corsets (2/23/2005 6:35:40 PM)

No..I dont want to talk to YOU.

stef -> RE: Corsets (2/23/2005 6:49:45 PM)

Now none of us will ever benefit from your studies on the metallurgical makeup of modern corset busks. How cruel of you to deprive us so!

MsLisa -> RE: Corsets (2/26/2005 7:34:54 AM)

Just a note for those who might be thinking of purchasing a corset and might be BBW. My understanding from a long time corset wearing friend is to get a corset with at least 12 panels. Most corset makers make an 8 pannel corset and its just not enough support for a fuller figure. I do know the Other Woman does regularly make 12 panel corsets but some of the others only do so upon request. Make sure to ask!

--This is just an FYI and if you are planning to purchase a corset something you should research.
