I've a question - I've heard this from folks that've traveled to Europe, too.  What in the name of all that's holy is the most graceful way to use a "hole" toilet when you're wearing pants...and have unhappy knees?

Really, I'm serious!

My one OCD trait is research. If some topic catches my fancy I can easily spend hours looking it and other related topics up.

This.

And I have to knock over any lighters that are standing on end. My ex termed it obsessive chaotic disorder. That fits.

Books - in alphabetical order by author within categories.

Ha ha ha... I can't even imagine that!

My brother's DVD collection (which covers 4 floor to ceiling bookshelves) has to be in alphabetical order. He knows if someone has went in and watched something and did not put it back... yet the rest of his house looks like a troll lives there

Priorities!!! Sounds like he has his in order.....lol.....luci

My father has a big DVD collection that he has alphabetical... Sweets wanted to mess with him one day, so while my dad was at work, he went in and (I know this will bother Luci too) put in a "The Section".. In the Ts, there was a section of movies that started with the word The. The Astronaut's Wife was of course before The Game and stuff like that, but there was a "The Section", and it took him no time to realize it and fix it... lol

The horror!!!!

Well, ok...

You wouldn't wear pants if that were the case.

I've been known to go into a bathroom stall and strip from the waist down when I've been a wee too tipsy and was worried about the aim.  Then I clean up if necessary and get dressed again.

But you can go to places like hotels (they usually have western type toilets).  If you are out and about for awhile, you learn to do a few things - you limit liquid take and chew gum instead.  If you find a good toilet, you use it whether you "need" to or not.

You learn the importance of wearing a skirt.

It's a fair point.

Underwear.  The bra and panties really do have to be color coordinated with each other and yes, they really are supposed to match the outfit.

Broken or chipped fingernail.  No.  I'll trim them all before I'll have one that is shorter than the others.

Oh absolutely, and one can't ever have too much undies, not possible! Usually 2 pairs of knickers in different shapes for each bra... Just like one can't ever have too many sunglasses...

And rather short nails than unmatched nails...

Cups, there is a certain kind of mug I will have coffee in, other shapes are perfect for teas,

Cracks me up. This thread isn't about OCD, it's about women being prim. The only male to have contributed, with his alphabetically-ordered book-collection, was promptly told that his example didn't qualify because it was entirely reasonable.

And as I was doing laundry yesterday I realized....... I like my bath towels folded and stacked a certain way on the shelf. If GD does it, and does it 'wrong', I secretly re-do it.

Traditionally, that's the way trolls are. They live in the muck under the bridge, but, keep the bridge quite tidy, and, every brick accounted for Perhaps, somewhere back in time, you have an ancestor that has some explaining to do! Do you have any family portraits of hairy-chinned aunts who are known for thinking a trip to the Great Wall is the ultimate adventure, perhaps? Or, any ancestral lands featuring a nice bridge?

My OCD habits. Well, for one thing, if someone asks, I have an urge to answer. Even if it is a question on a subject I am not interested in, I have no knowledge of, and, it's being asked by someone and to someone I do not know. This goes along, somehow, with this terrible rampant honesty that keeps pouring out of me at the most inopportune moments.

Even when I was young, and, we'd get stopped by the police for being out late, or whatever the police were stopping us for (being young, I believe), and, they'd ask me why we were ... (doing whatever it was they were pretending was illegal that day, or, on rare occasions, actually was illegal that day) I would reply "Well, if I was going to lie, and, I assure you I am ..." and then I could tell them a lie, that would make them happy to leave us alone. All they wanted was the lie, all my friends wanted was the lie, but, even upon risk of arrest, I couldn't just lie, unless everyone knew it was a story.

Also, when I was in a business class, my teacher returned some papers to me, telling me that I had done a marvelous job on the work, but, that she had to give me a slightly lower grade than I otherwise deserved, and, next time she would give me an F. Why? She seemed to think employers prefer their letters and such without doodles all down the sides and backs of them.

The doodling isn't all bad, though. I once was offered a job as an art director, $26 per hour, at a t-shirt shop, when all I had to show them by way of portfolio was a doodle that I had just drawn as we were out, driving around, looking for places to apply for work. Unfortunately, due to severe bitchiness at home, I had to move and couldn't take it, but, you know ..sometimes OCD works wonders for you.

Put me in w/the coffee mug crowd.  I have 2 coffee mugs & 4 coffee cups & only use the mugs.
I hate even numbers, everything has to end on an odd number, preferrably 5 or 7.
If I accidentally bump one side of my body I have to bump the other to even out the pain

Right now my desk looks like the "typical" accountant's workspace---a tornado of papers. But BENEATH it all!! My stuff is perfectly lined up! Appt book, staplers, tape dispenser, pen cup, scrap paper, phone, upright file.

THAT IS HOW IT IS. The insides of my desk drawers are like that too.

At home I have the Sock Filing System. Yes, I do. Mock me if you will (and I KNOW you will!) but I can find matching socks in the dark!

I do things in threes.  M&M's, eaten in 3's.  Deocrate in 3's.  I didn't this time, and I still don't feel comfortable in my home.  Things just seem out of order.  I'll probably take everything off the walls, and start over until things are in the right place.

I have certain decorative items that I need to be in a certain place, and it makes me twitchy when they are moved.  I'm having to suck this one up, now that I have a 1 year old toddler running around moving EVERYTHING.  I put things out of his reach the week he is here, then I put them back where they belong the week he is gone.

I have this compulsion to move, every 6 months.  I keep a handle on this compulsion by moving furniture around and doing a thorough spring cleaning every 6 months when the urge to flee starts to overwhelm me.  I've managed to stave off the urge and remain in one place for 2 years max, but so far that's my record.

I prefer to avoid being cornered anywhere.  There's usually an exit within eyesight anywhere I happen to sit or linger.

I am anal about many things, but not OCDish, which to me is like ritualistic checking behaviors... I do not go there.

My brother has other areas he does checking....

My sister has several obsessions and compulsions. She worries about overfilling her tub, and even though she does not take baths anymore she will go home to check and make sure the tub was not left on (she flooded her house once and it screwed with her brain). When I say my family is OCD, I mean it... I am possibly the least OCD person in my family because I refuse to check things... I do not want to go down that road, I would rather burn my house down than become a checker.

Yep, I'm a checker. I have been known to turn my car around from miles away to make sure I've turned the coffee pot off, to call the neighbor to go into my house to make sure I've unplugged the iron, and to call work or drive back to work to make sure I've turned off the toaster oven that I used 6 hours prior, or that my fan on my desk is unplugged for fear that it will spontaneously turn on in the night, overheat, and cause a fire. Speaking of that, I will always turn my daughter's fan off in her room before I go to sleep. And I always go through all my rooms before I leave my house to make sure all that should be is "off and unplugged." I leave a light on in the living room at night, but it's always the one in the farthest corner so if it goes on fire, it doesn't block any doors.

Sock Filing System? How does that work? I can't find matching socks, even in light.

If I eat colored candies I will makethem even first. I will dump out the bag, sort them into piles (like each pile of Reese's Peices has one brown, one yellow, and one orange) and eay the leftovers first. and usually all at once. then I eat the piles....

That's easy, put them together in pairs and then toss them into the assigned drawer, 95% of my socks are black, so that works for me!
