Well, according this review on their website it is (note bolded text):

This is a Must Have Product. I Love mine & going 2 go buy more today. Buy at least 2 when on sale & dont 4get D Batteries. Last longer if you get Good ones. If I remember right when friends bought flyswatters from there, they had to remove some of the metal screen or you couldn't get it to touch the skin, and without touching skin there was no...um...zing. Otherwise they worked well and are super cheap.

Agrreeing with Peppermint, about the plastic stopping skin touching the wires... hubby broke my last two trying to do a modification to them, but it gave off a nice zap and one didnt forget it quickly., use it gently cos for threee bucks, the actual unit isnt sturdy for a good strike, more of a love tap or a stroke across the ass thing, tap on the nip or clit, OR of course dick and balls:)
I have to admit, I did try it out on myself first to find out what sensations were available:) *wiggling my eyebrows*

We have gone through three or four of them Steven. They do make for a fun toy, but are kind of flimsy. The best use we have found for them is to use them for a poking movement after removing part of the plastic outer ring. Delivers a MILD shock, but depends on what body part it is touched to!
It is not a very expensive investment for a toy that may or may not last very long. Gotta love cheap PERVERTABLES!

I have one of those from menards and on the one I have the plastic actually keeps 3 layers of screen from touching..screen, plastic, screen, plastic, and screen. I am going to modify one, by removing the head and making somethng with two prongs....

I did see one recently that would be better suited, it had wires that ran parallel to one another and plastic on the outside as a protctor, that one would be easier to modify with out taking it apart, I think

I always try anything new out on myself first (if applicable), so I know what it actually does.

oooh i love harbor freight ^_^ the fly swatters, as others have said, can be pretty flimsy, but they can be fun. just plan on buying more than one if you really like to play with it. at $3 or so, it's not that bad, though.

Worth every single damn penny, at twice the price! :D It's... different. They don't 'hurt', per se, but you sure as shit know something just happened, and you're not sure if it's good or bad. They're very very confusing things, to say the least.

I got mine 2 years ago. I love it. I did remove every other metal bar on one side. Worked like a charm. Still full of zaps & owies. They also demoed it at FetishCon last Friday.

(Btw- I do use the other side with all the bars intact for it's intended purpose: palmetto removal. It stuns them just enough for me to go outside & send them off in an artful volley.)

I had one of those. Removed all the plastic stuff and stilldidn't do a darn thing. Some friends told me to get one and I tried the one he had. It was an awesome "snap". This one didn't do a thing though. It works on fly , but that is allit does, not a bdsm friendly toy .

I have one of those flyswatters. Works great on nipples or other things that protrude. Make sure the batteries are fresh. I tried one on my fingertip at a party and after my fingertip was numb for 5 minutes I said "I gotta get one of these".

I like this better, though. Pricier, but a much more useful product.

...let me tell you one small anecdote of a chap who said he was a pain slut.. I had him lean forward, and brought the paddle(the 2.99) one up under his testicles, he was wearing a net thong(public event) and just held it there for a second or two. He never called himself a painslut afterwards, so Im just sayin, different strokes for different folks:)
