I'd like to see a forum dedicated to absolutely zero moderation and another where the moderation is strict and no nonsense. Just a little something for everyone to post where they can have the sort of conversations they most enjoy. We have random stupidity and it can be a lot of fun down there but I'd like to see something similar on the other end of the spectrum.

I'm going to suggest (again) that financial contributions be allowed to help maintain the joint, upgrade servers.. whatever the owners felt was needed in the ways of technology to keep things current, up to date and fresh. I enjoy the forums a lot and would appreciate the chance to contribute financially.

Too much of splitting up forums is a bad idea.

i agree, but i think adding one or two and condensing one or two it would be okay.

I agree.

And as part of the adding, I wonder if there might be a locked thread in the Administrative Announcements forum that would be about status updates. So...if there is an issue, someone can post "problem A is known and being worked on" or "problem B is known and may not be fixed for a few days, stay tuned". This would help cut down, if not eliminate threads popping up when problems arise and would also cut down on moderators responding to said threads.

I know the other side is for posting your profile and stating if, who or what you're looking for.  But the intros are filled with adverts.  Could there not also be a new forum for those who want to advertise for the who/what they want to find?  And make sure the intro is just that.  We can be pretty hard on the new posters in the intro section, and I know you're trying to keep thing on an even keel.  It would just make such a difference.  I like welcoming the newbies, but it seems most don't get that an intro is just that, and we really don't want or need to know that they're looking for x, y, z.  Obviously most of them don't look at the guidelines as to what a particular forum is about before they post, but with that separation, the intro section could go back to being just that.  Seems to have become worse lately and a lot of eye rolling moments.

I was part of a anti religion forum for a number of years and our access to parts of the forums were based on # of posts.
When i was a member of Livve a few years back some of the rooms were for Doms only. subs also had their own private room. Just throwing things out there.

Nothing makes people say, "fuck that" more than having restrictions on forums.

I would like it if, when I use Fast Reply, that it say so in the "Reply To" section of my post instead of showing me as replying to the person above me. Sometimes it's nice to just comment in general on a thread without having to scroll back to specifically reply to the OP.

While the idea of a "Newbie" section in content is a good one, personally, I find the word "Newbie" to be insulting, and I don't just mean here and/or in BDSM. I hate the word. It's babyish, and if I were a new poster and saw a forum titled Newbie anything I would be turned off by it. I know it's commonly used, but that is just my feeling on it.

I do like the idea of a completely un-moderated thread. A "fuck it all" thread, but...I think there must be reasons why we have moderators in the first place. I mean, of course, we want to keep the conversation on track, but if somebody starts to post anything illegal (such as child-related stuff) or hate crime stuff or anything, CollarMe must have some sort of liability/responsibility there...maybe...I think. So completely un-moderated just couldn't be. (Unless I'm wrong...but that's the thought that crossed my mind.)

I would like to be able to "subscribe" to certain people. (And if there's already a way to do this, then please let me know.) There are two or three people who I always look for in my search feature. I know we can subscribe to threads here and to journals on the other side. How about to certain posters? And maybe subscribe is the wrong word. I mean more of a notification when I come to the boards to tell me that my favorite users have posted a message, and where they are.

I, too, would be willing to pay for the use of the site, but I don't think it should be mandatory. Maybe paid subscribers can have some extras (such as the ability to subscribe to certain posters). I don't think there should be any distinction that anyone else could tell if I have paid or not...all should look the same to everybody. But I certainly use the forums enough that I think it would be reasonable to give something back.

And finally, I think that anyone who deliberately uses language in their posts resembling the text in those annoying pictures depicting cats uttering grammatically incoherent sentences with multiple spelling errors and words with lots of z's in them should be banned. I think that should be part of the TOS.

The individual sections for topics is too broad. I can't believe i'm saying this...I agree with NS; about making more sections for individual topics, not just kink related. Relationships, different types of kinks, ect;. This will drastically cut down on clutter, and allow discussions to be easier to find, and keep new users from constantly asking the same questions.

I disagree.  The more forums to police (and have Wrong Forum reports made), the more work for the mods.

A suggest regarding this is, allow users to "vote sticky" on a particular thread they like, and if it recieves enough votes to warrant it, you can add it to a "STICKYS" sub section within each topic, this way users can look through all the past threads of discussions and not feel as though they missed out, and can find the answers they seek without making a whole new thread. Each time you "Sticky" a thread you can lock it. If someone makes a post asking a common question, it will be easy to find and refer someone to. You could put this button where the profile icon currently resides. Most people know by now clicking on a name or picture will take you to thier profile. It seems rather redundant to need three features for this.

Widen the box size of the as the collar turns widget. It's great to have, just that it displays so little in it to get an idea of what is being discussed.

Cool ideas.

i think it might help to have a newbie forum. (Ask a newbie...???)

I like that idea as well.

My only suggestion is to properly spell "lifestyles" in the subheader
Alternative Lifestyles in the News
News Articles and Other Media Attention given to Alternative Lifestlyes

Also, if Awareness is so keen on having male moderators, VAA, have you considered transitioning to make him happy?

Some great ideas so far; here are mine:

Separate out the basic forum sections so a person can opt out of seeing posts from that section. An example would be P&R. I hate seeing my list of posts cluttered up with P&R posts, since I have relatively little interest in them. It makes it hard to find those threads I might want to contribute to.

The section titles are often misleading, which makes finding a thread you would like to contribute to difficult. Some sections should be divided (like humor and games), others combined (such as ask a Mistress, ask a Master, ask a sub).

I love the idea of new people having their own section, and of separating out intros and advertisements. I think the intro section needs to have more strict moderation to keep people from grilling new posters and to keep new posters from making asses out of themselves (I know, but I can hope, right?)

I would like to see an enforced rule that you must make a certain number of posts before you can start a new thread.

I would like to see stricter moderation on those who create threads b/c they have nothing better to do.

I would like a way so that regular posters could list topics they would like to see discussed (such as bloodplay for instance) so that it would be easy for people to began new threads of interest.

I would like to have access to all my posts, everything I have ever written (unless it got pulled.)

I love the following ideas already mentioned:

The FAQs Sticky ideas: one for terms and one for "how to use the forum."

The idea of being able to vote a thread to be stickied.

The idea of improving the search functions.

The idea of polls being placed where they are most relevant.

I think it would make it easier to find topics of discussion more relevent. Instead of an entire page devoted to everything a master or mistress might have to say, you can quickly jump to a specific discussion type, it wouldn't be more forums to police, it would make them more organized and easier to traverse. Besides, they are likely going to be overworked regardless ;P

I'm all for combining Master and Mistress, But keep Sub and switches seperate. As i think thier side of the coin is more specifically topic oriented towards them in general.

I echo the "Fast reply shouldn't be replying to a person" vote.

I'd also like the option of, on the other side, combining sub and slave in the Looking For category.  And the option of being able to screen journal viewing by gender, similar to how I can view photos by gender.  And how about screening photos/journals by orientation (Dom, sub, switch) in addition to gender?

Lock threads after 60-90 days of no posting. Fie on necro threads!

Intros--some folks think that an advert is a hello, big deal.

Go back to random STUPIDITY, pls.

The Dead Zone, for all whiner threads, hating on pros threads, fakes threads, and moronic shit like polls on lasagne.

As to the rest, the posters make the content. If no one says anything others find interesting, that's not on the admins! Places change. Fuck the newbies.

Ooooh, I like the idea of a Dead Zone, we could put the adverts as intros in there too!

How about the option to nominate threads or posts for "the best of the forums" (like best of craigslist)?

VAA?

Do you really want people to report posts?

Based on the number of name calling and personal attacks-  ...it would be ALOT of posts.   I do not mean a jab- I mean-  people being flat out mean, and rude.     Even when it happens to someone else- it takes from the thread.
