A great question, I think. I have known dom males who don't even want to watch a BDSM session with a sub male, it squeaks them major. And then I have known those for whom it doesn't matter what your plumbing is, male or female, they are sessioning for less sexual and more sadistic or power driven reasons and the gender of their sub is secondary. I'm sure there are those who would argue if that if a male tops a male, there is some "gayness" involved. I don't agree and think those who perceive it as gay are undercover homophobic. But, YMMV and all that. As far as BDSM being sexual (or not), I think it is if you think it is a/o want it to be. It doesn't *have* to be. When it comes to sex and power exchange we are talking some extremely primal drives. So I don't think it's all that easy to make cut and dried statement about what a particular act, or a specific session "means."
