Dear Mistresses
Is there any country where a woman may legally have two or more husbands, in the manner that in Moslem countries a man may have 4 wives?

Dear circleoflove, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I don't know of any USA law that permits polyandry. However, with the cost of living--it certainly is cost effective to have two husbands! Especially, if they're servant minded. It is getting to the point where it takes four people's income to stay in a reasonable sized home.

Polyandry is a common practice of regional tribes of Central and Northern S. America.

Also was common in Tibet, prior to the Chinese takeover... probably one of many cultural practices that have been suppressed there.

I remember in an anthropology course I took that we looked at a group in the Andes mountains where polyandry was only practiced by one woman taking brothers as husbands -- men didn't take multiple wives.

The reason they gave for this polyandrous practice was that it really cut down on jealousy between brothers -- no fighting over available women who were apparently not as numerous as men. Probably related to deaths in childbirth would be my guess.

Also as LadyHugs mentioned having multiple husbands could increase the financial stablity of the household -- I'll add this is especially true if the society frowns on women working for money or outside the immediate household/farm holdings.

Well blimey....Even though it is not officially allowed to have more than one spouse, the way the US system works ( unlike some European Systems), it is quite easy to get married to another spouse, by just going to another state or another county. As long as you don't use it on your federal or state income forms.

consult a university anthropologist ,or write to universtiy of newmexico anthro dept. say you are press and want the story and, will print it with their name and send it to an editor(pick one)
i do know in america you can have all the husbands you want, if you're a "mistress" ,and, as long as they are not yours.

Personally, I'd love to have at least 3 or 4 husbands.. and 3 or 4 wives as well. And all my wives should be married to all my husbands.. then we can live in our commune. Happy, happy, joy, joy!

I think we'll have plenty of time to get to know and decide whether we like one another while we're waiting for polygamy to be legalized, or for visas to move to Hatu.

As for coffee, well, I love coffee, but caffeine doesn't like me.

Just to toss some oil on the discussion, I actually don't want more than one husband.

For me the role of husband is different from the roles of slave or submissive.

I have one husband, I don't want more, but I'm happy with several slaves or submissives.
