Hello

I'm curious do some of you have a sort of button that's just flipped back and forth at whim?
Partly asked out of humor but as I was about to laugh alone the idea struck me that maybe some can just turn on or off or top or bottom. Or perhaps the significant other flips it for them?

No, I'm good but what do you do if your button gets too tightly jammed to flip at will. Buttons typically require maintenance.

I think button would be a cute name for female switch. Perhaps an alternative name?

How can it be a button?
It's a Switch!

Maybe fluid though, like a mercury switch, a detonator.
Stand back, beware

Soo my friend who knows nothing about my BDSM life calls me Button. Coincidence?

In the U.S we tend to think of a button as something you press to turn on and press again to shut it off. Websters has enlightened me a little, after a quick skim, that a button was probably most commonly refered to something like the button like knob on a lamp you turn on. You being from the U.K. may have little idea of how we Americans perceive our buttons and switches. I know nada of detonators but did have an old house once that had a mercury filled sensor that turned on the blower to my furnace. I'd consider a type of switch because it failed to start the blower several times and I had to go tap it. I guess the irony is that it was supposed to be controlled by a dial like knob, the thermostat. But see your point, we could per definition refer to that as a button. The norm for turning on a light here is called flipping the switch. Which tends to be a wall mounted up-down switch.

Would you be opposed to the female switches taking on the title of buttons? I don't expect it to go anywhere except as the occasional term of endearment. I certainly can't say I see a revolution coming.

I had to double take this. I am pretty sure he is saying you hit his button or your the button that turns him on. Ask him if he thinks your that kind of button, that is if your interested in him.

Hahahaha. No, SHE does not mean that. When she first met me, she told my boyfriend I was as cute as a button. And then called me Button from then on.

It's often true when they say, "it helps to talk or ask questions about things that confuse us". Glad I could be of some help.

I have a button that sometimes I have occasion and then I don't do if I can't find what I but if I try hard enough I always stay in preferred make it work because I sometimes effect if I can't remove it.

(But that's not always true).

I actually don't see any humor here at all (I'm sure you were trying to find common ground).

There are thousands (maybe there's hundreds.....certainly there's 3 at least....maybe it just my Aunt from Jersey...but she's a total crack whore) who are certain I'm a Dom (I'm not...I just play one on AOL). I have no button.

I have a switch....(it's actually a toggle).

Remember, laugh alone, and the world laughs with you....laugh publicly and very few cars will move when you put your brakes on too fast.

(My Mom told me that...but then again, she's related to my Aunt in Jersey).

It surprises me that you are taking this site as a joke when you need to understand submission. Are you afraid to REALLY find out your position? Just Sayin......

I think of mine more like Domdar. The second i am around a powerful dominant normally instantly subby feelings making me want to roll over :P
Lol I do enjoy it especially as there is a switch who lives near me who i have grown up alongside so i am very used to so its very easy for me to tell what mood he is in, the amount of impromptu sessions which have occured whilst watching films are amazing :)

I'd say I'm more of a whimsy. I have an owner and if I feel he isn't being on the ball for too long I'll step up , take the dominant role from him for a bit (which is always hilarious!, his expressions make all the punishment I get after so worth it) and then eventually he'll get tired of dealing with my nonsense and take it back. He also lets me have dominant sessions under his supervision since he knows otherwise I'd get bored waay faster lol. But yea I'm completely mood based. I've only ever found one person I've been all of one for. :) (this really was a humorous question)

Some people identify as switch because they have made a net-shift in their orientation. Others are more fluid, but take time. That is, most switches I know feel dominant or submissive for a night, a few days or so at a time. I identify as a switch because I can serve as a service top. I will "dominate" when told to. And do it damn well. But that means I can look up, and be a submissive to my owner. Then look down, and be dominant to my play thing. So in the time it takes to turn my head, I've switched.

Left to my own devices, I need to find outlets for my submission and my dominance. If one goes unattended for too long, say 4-8 months, I go on a streak to satiate the need.
