Yachtie -> More from the Birther front (5/17/2012 11:56:42 AM)

Breitbart News has obtained a promotional booklet produced in 1991 by Barack Obama's then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which touts Obama as "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."

The booklet, which was distributed to "business colleagues" in the publishing industry, includes a brief biography of Obama among the biographies of eighty-nine other authors represented by Acton & Dystel.

Guess they really really got that wrong.[8|]

Seems to be some issues here.

And anything out of Brietbart (even though old andy is feeding the worms) is horseshit until proven not horseshit, which to date has never been done.

Don't those fucking idiots realize how much they actually hurt the Republicans?

Probably almost as wrong as the agents who toted JT Leroy as being a chap who's mum was a whore rather than a middle class white lady who couldn't get published as herself, yes.

mnottertail -> RE: More from the Birther front (5/17/2012 1:08:25 PM)

But was her mum a whore at least then, or was it wrong in all respects, because breitbart did get it right that Obama wrote a book, you see.  That's how they do it, then they claim the rest logically follows.

vincentML -> RE: More from the Birther front (5/17/2012 3:19:24 PM)

Miriam Goderich edited the text of the bio; she is now a partner at the Dystel & Goderich agency, which lists Obama as one of its current clients.

"This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me--an agency assistant at the time," Goderich wrote in an emailed statement to Yahoo News. "There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more."

What are they gonna talk about instead? Their economic plan?

Ooops.

Lucylastic -> RE: More from the Birther front (5/17/2012 4:29:45 PM)

Or their health plan.

fucktoyprincess -> RE: More from the Birther front (5/17/2012 4:59:53 PM)

So people would rather believe the sleeve cover of an unpublished book than his actual birth certificate. Well, then there is no end to this, is there?

I will say this, I think publicists put whatever spin on things they think will sell copy. And I think the way he was described made him sound much more "exotic", to use a word I despise, but it seems appropriate here.

I find it a bit odd, but not unimaginable, and certainly not dispositive of anything.

But I would have to agree that none of this helps the Republicans. The circus side show stuff is getting old, no? How much tattooed man and bearded lady can we take...

Hey! This nonsense has its positive side. How else can I get to feel like I've been trapped in a time warp? And comedy is a brilliant way to reconcile the alienated masses with the political process.

If I was working for Obama's re-election I be doing my best to ensure issues like this were raised as often as possible. [:D]

Lucylastic -> RE: More from the Birther front (5/17/2012 10:42:46 PM)

A possible source of the so-called "birther" issue--or at least a potential cause of the rumors that have dogged President Barack Obama--has been identified.

Obama's former literary agency misidentified his birthplace as Kenya while trying to promote the then-Harvard Law grad as an author in 1991.

According to a promotional booklet produced by the agency, Acton & Dystel, to showcase its roster of writers, Obama was "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."

[sm=rofl.gif]

You`re kidding right?....lol

This will most definitely impact swing voters and turn them off to Mitt,no matter how much Mitt tries to distance himself.

He can`t can`t shake the PACs running ads about the Rev Wright or the GOPeewees` bigotted use of the name "Hussein"

It`s "08" all over again.[:D]

"Breitbart.com published a lengthy disclaimer with the brochure, saying it does not believe Obama was born outside of the United States:

Andrew Breitbart was never a "Birther," and Breitbart News is a site that has never advocated the narrative of "Birtherism." In fact, Andrew believed, as we do, that President Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961.

Yet Andrew also believed that the complicit mainstream media had refused to examine President Obama's ideological past, or the carefully crafted persona he and his advisers had constructed for him.

It is for that reason that we launched "The Vetting," an ongoing series in which we explore the ideological background of President Obama (and other presidential candidates)--not to re-litigate 2008, but because ideas and actions have consequences.

It is also in that spirit that we discovered, and now present, the booklet described below--one that includes a marketing pitch for a forthcoming book by a then-young, otherwise unknown former president of the Harvard Law Review.

It is evidence--not of the President's foreign origin, but that Barack Obama's public persona has perhaps been presented differently at different times."

So on one hand the yellow journalists admit that they believe the president is American while on the other, claim that some un-named " complicit mainstream media" is actively trying covering up the president`s ideological background.

So then.......what is it about President Obama that the "complicit mainstream media" hasn`t explored?

"because ideas and actions have consequences"

What a cowardly way to justify their dirty tricks.

Nope. I don't feel hurt by this. I checked, it did not even register with Foxnews as a news item. I suspect Romney is sleeping ok. But you did devote a lot of time to it.

The AP reporter stated the following:

Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations.

This report explains the context of the oft cited debate, between Obama and Keyes in the following Fall, in which Keyes faulted Obama for not being a “natural born citizen”, and in which Obama, by his quick retort, “So what? I am running for Illinois Senator, not the presidency”, self-admitted that he was not eligible for the office. Seeing that an AP reporter is too professional to submit a story which was not based on confirmed sources (ostensibly the Obama campaign in this case), the inference seems inescapable: Obama himself was putting out in 2004, that he was born in Kenya.

It would appear that english is not your native language.
Perhaps you could show where, in any grammar of the english language, "so what" = "I am not a natural born citizen".
Terms like "so what, whatever, your point?" more clearly mean "fuck you your point is irrelevant"
