descrite -> Newbie Question (9/30/2012 3:22:23 PM)

Hello-- this is my first post, and I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I have checked the Help portion of the main site, and the FAQ section of the forums, and I also used the Search function in the forums, with no luck. I am still confused about something...is there a "Report Profile" button on everyone's profile? I don't see one when I browse profiles, and some of them are obvious scammers, who I'd love to report.

Here are the instructions I've found:

"
Reporting a scammer Use the report buttons located below every profile, next to every journal entry (on the 'View Full Profile' page), and when viewing email messages. Do not report scammers to our support staff. Doing so clogs up our support system, wastes our limited resources, and does absolutely nothing to help stop the scammers. Using the reporting system is the only helpful way to report scammers.     Q: Why are there so many scammers, fakes, professional dominants demanding tribute, wankers who disappear after a few emails, [insert other complaint]? Are there any real people here?

A: We encounter these types of complaints on a routine basis. Sometimes, several of them crop up in the same week or even the same day. Welcome to the internet, let the buyer beware. Your best defense against these individuals is to learn to spot them and then use the Report Profile feature provided by the site administrators. If a profile receives enough reports from individual users (as opposed to multiple reports by the same user), the automated system will handle it. Please refrain from reporting these profiles to Support since this only clogs up the system without resolving the issue.  You should also keep in mind that one person's fake is another's ideal partner. If someone is incompatible with you, they are not necessarily fake. Recognize their right to do what works for them and move on to someone else. "

If this feature exists, could someone please post a screenshot of what it looks like in a profile? I just can't find it, at all. I can see the "Report Photo" button, but not the "Report Profile."

Thanks.

I think they got rid of the "report profile" function when they realised the potential for abuse.
Mostly you're expected to keep your big boy/girl pants on and use your own head and discretion when it comes to dealing with scammers.
Problem of course being that one man's scam is another man's fantasy, so who's to say?

descrite -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 4:50:58 PM)

heh. I pity the man whose fantasy is to be sold a hot 23 year-old female, and instead be manipulated by a 46 year-old Russian male.

But, as you say, to each their own...

Thanks for letting me know that button is gone-- I can stop looking for the damn thing. heh.

Alecta -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 4:52:49 PM)

Don't knock it, it's totally possible that that's exactly his fantasy, is to be manipulated by a 46 year old russian male into being sold to a 23 year old hot girl.... or even a 46 year olf male who thinks he's a 23 year old female... stranger things have happened ;)

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 4:58:58 PM)

Yes, there is a Report User button on every profile. However - and this is an odd little site quirk - if you are in View Full Profile mode, the button will not show up. If you click on the Profile link from the forums, it takes you to the Full view. From there, you can report photos, but not the full profile. However, you should see a button labeled "Back to list" on the left, next to the menu bar. Click that and the Report User button will be on the right, next to the Block button. Click it and you'll see several options for reporting, including Scammer.

Hope that helps you, OP. [:)]

Alecta -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:00:51 PM)

Hn. I stand corrected.
and... oh my, it's quite the hidden gem lol

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:05:44 PM)

According to my husband, who works in IT, this site is a coding nightmare. I believe it. But really, replying was just an excuse for me to perv the OP's profile. Whoo, what a scrumptious little tidbit. Too bad he's on the D side. [;)]

Alecta -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:07:18 PM)

I don't think there ever needs to be an excuse to look heh

descrite -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:19:28 PM)

I am very grateful to you, Sylvere.

And blushing.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:21:33 PM)

You're very welcome. Stick around, the ladies here are shameless flirts, if you have a good sense of humor. We'll have you blushing down to your toes. [;)]

descrite -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:26:23 PM)

I can fake a good sense of humor.

Hey, I'm having a blast with that Report button. I also love that there is an option to report a profile for having "excessive vulgarity."

Because, yeah, when I'm checking out a BDSM site, I am really concerned about my sensibilities being offended.

heh.

And yes, the blush is growing. Flattery does that to me.

Nice to meet you. Good to be here.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:33:15 PM)

Fake it 'til you make it! Or something like that.

Wait until you start reporting photos. There is not enough eye bleach in the world. [:'(]

Nice to meet you, too. You did something very few newbies can claim...you did your RESEARCH before you posted. For this, you get mad props. That aside, it's always nice to see another new poster with the potential to offer up some intelligent conversation. That's golden, at least for me.

descrite -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:43:25 PM)

Ha! Rock on, Sylvere...yeah, and I agree with your comment about clothes coming off those people who most need to be clothed.

So far, I have met some very cool people through CM, but have yet to meet any in person. On the contrary, FetLife has proven very lucrative in terms of meeting actual play partners (this, of course, my be a local/regional thing; I have no idea if results vary in other locations)...but both places seem rife with scammers (as the FAQ points out, such is the nature of the beast). At least on CM, the scammers do not seem aggressive; they are merely passive, but clutter up the landscape, making it tougher to find IRL partners. On FL, they seem to launch scam attempts, while on CM they seem content to just keep posting new profiles, casting that line back into the water and waiting for a hit.

Glad to be welcomed. Thanks again. Maybe we could share a sub someday.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 5:58:01 PM)

FetLife is definitely better for finding local people/groups/events. However, I've found the message boards on CM to be much better that the personals side for finding people who want to meet up in person. I've met several people via CM, including my last three play partners. Maybe four...we'll see how the one I've been chatting with lately works out.

I don't normally share with other dominants, but I might be up for some co-topping one of these days. Some of the long-time CMers have joked about putting together a "CM Tour Bus" - maybe we should revisit that topic.

playfulotter -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 7:08:23 PM)

You should be more careful of your photo as it can be perused on Tineye....... if that is your photo...even shows your first and last name.....but that guy is in Las Vegas and not Sacramento....

descrite -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 7:25:08 PM)

Thanks, otter...But anyone who thinks they can successfully stay clandestine on the Interwebs for over 9 minutes is grievously fooling themselves.

A photo is a photo. A profile is a profile. A name is a name. And a doughnut with no hole is a danish.

I can neither confirm nor deny I have ever lived in Vegas. Or that my photo has lived in Vegas.

Sylvere, that's really good advice...I'm new to the forums, but I will keep my eyes peeled for chances to meet more cool folks like you and Otter and Alecta. I've had a couple invites from the classifieds section, and we're working out the details...we'll see how that goes.

That Tour Bus sounds like a wild idea.

Alecta -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 7:32:38 PM)

I'm not cool, I'm frosty. Get it right :p

Extravagasm -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 8:01:35 PM)

descrite seems busy enough reporting people, that the bus tour is never going to know what State to find him or his picture, in :)
Incidentally, a doughnut without a hole is by no means a Danish. Except to those with without taste buds who believe steak is a gourmet food.

Alecta -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 8:09:10 PM)

Come now, it isn't the ingredients, it's what you do with it.

littlewonder -> RE: Newbie Question (9/30/2012 8:17:34 PM)

hhmm....maybe this is SpanishMaster in disguise. [sm=idea.gif]
