I don't see parenting as masochism, I see it as life. Mwaning parts of it it are easy and full of joy and other parts are not. You need to find humor, let go of the myth of control and let go of outcomes. Its about finding joy in living.

Masochism is for one's own benefit, altruism for the better of others. A person can't claim they haven't left their kids by the riverside because they're a good person. Chemistry maybe, something like 10% of women are literally terrified of children - I don't a regret a second of it, I'd probably have Ten more if it were practical.
