I have read about a radio collar used with dogs. It sends out a radio signal. As long as the collar is within range of the signal, nothing happens. If the collar is taken out of range, it sends a shock. The minimal range though was a radius of 30 ft or so.

Has anyone seen a collar that works like this to maintain a close range, such as a 10 ft radius around me? I have found a vibrating device that stops vibrating at about 20 ft, but I want the opposite, no response within the radius, and it goes off outside the radius.

See PetSafe. They sell a variety of products along a similar flavor.

Just to be sure, since they sell both types of wireless fence (positive "safe zone" type and negative "danger zone" type), I think the one you are looking for is the
Instant Fence

As you have probably figure out, this type is more "escape proof".

Anyway, could you tell me some more about your experience in electric play and breath control, and where to find out more?

These collars are listed on Ebay, and can be had for a decent price.

I purchased one of these within the last 3 months for an actual dog. I bought it at Petsmart and then regretted it about 3 days later because I saw them on ebay for easily half the price. It is effective on the pooch, though, so I would think it would be just swell for your use.
