I'm surprised that post has lasted as long as it has. Perhaps the staff is at their Memorial Day Weekend BBQ and haven't seen it yet.

This conversation will go on for 10 months, all of it conjecture and hyperbole.

fuck me, CM is now CS.....so what for most of us.
I don't know jack shit about computers, or domains or any of that stuff, yet it took me about 30 seconds to get here.

If you ain't got anything at all going on in your life then feel free to carry on discussing the earthshattering news.

Or get a life.

Does anyone know exactly what happened? Not conjecture, but the absolute facts of the matter? No? Then perhaps it is time to just remain calm and go about your business on the forums and let this go.

I have read the blog explaining one side of the story. I have not read the other side of the story because there is none to read. Of course, then there are the facts and truth about what really happened which no one knows nor should they claim to know.

What we know for certain: Damn little. Something happened.

What we can speculate happened: Everything from flying monkeys to alien abduction and more. Let your imagination run free.

What follows is opinion and opinion only. It is not taking sides, nor should it be construed as factual, informative, worthy of reading, or even responding to. Go watch a movie instead of spending your time reading my post. You have been warned.

I hate to see the site in danger of shutting down, but isn't that the reality of free sites in general? There one day, gone the next and there isn't a thing that anyone can do about it. If there were problems in the business, it is a damn shame that they could not be worked out, but that is life... not everything has a happy ending. Generally speaking with the site domain being redirected, normally people do not take such drastic action unless they are out of other options.

Perhaps the blog was a way of attempting to apologize to the community and offer some sort of explanation in lieu of silence and everyone scratching their heads. It may, or may not have been an attempt at winning public opinion, but at least she tried. As far as her bringing her sick child into the whole thing, perhaps this was a way for her to explain her stress level and why she took as drastic of a measure as she did. For those lambasting her for doing that, you are correct in saying that her daughter's illness should not have been brought into this, however, if it is true and her daughter is that ill, then have a heart... she must be under a tremendous strain and may well have not handled things the best way she should have. No one here has ever reacted poorly under tremendous emotional strain?

As far as her partner, well I believe remaining silent is either the smartest thing to do or the dumbest thing to do, I am not certain which. We, as the community, would like to hear at least a little something in way of an explanation and some sort of assurance that the site is going to remain here. Yes, its being here now may well be evidence of that, or it may well be that the loss of revenue is all they care about, again, more questions and no answers. One could wonder why on earth, if the problems were this bad, that an equitable solution could not be reached and the community would have been none the wiser.

The other amazing thing are the armchair lawyers that spring out of the woodwork claiming to know this or that. Unless you have a law degree, leave the legal opinions to those best suited and trained for such a thing. We do not know if a contract exists between the partners. I would hope there was one, but there may not have been. Therefore, whatever surety of a legal footing one may or may not have is also speculation. If a contract exists, no one here has likely read the actual agreement or have been made aware of any of the terms or conditions therein. Who owns what or has rights to which parts, percentages, or physical data involved in the business is unknown. Polarizing to one side or the other is an exercise in futility because there are no verifiable facts. Similar cases have happened and there is case law for them, but we have no way of knowing if the case is even remotely similar to existing cases. As far as the idea of whether or not the contents of the blog amounts to libel that is actionable, that may well be left to the courts, but, as stated before, it may not have been the wisest choice.

In short, for those that are all upset and indignant over whatever has transpired here, we just do not know enough about the situation to really get behind one party over the other or to condemn them both. What we should be concerned about is the stability of the site that we all enjoy using. It is my hope that some sort of resolution can be found. If there is no compromise to be had and it goes into litigation, the entire future of the site as a whole could be in jeopardy. It would not be the first time that a court has thrown the baby out with the bathwater.

If you scrolled down this far, I will give you the "Too Long Didn't Read" version:

Blah, blah, blah, blah , blah, blahbitty blah blah.

Now it seems the scroll is gone. That was my main avenue for accessing the boards.

Thanks, but getting "here" wasn't really a problem. I just preferred the scroll because it let me view what was current without having to go to the collarchat page and sifting through everything manually.

If you go directly to http://collarspace.com it's back up. The link at the top of the forums still directs you back to collarchat, but doubtless they'll be pointing that back to collarspace.com now that the other side is back up.

I'm getting it too, it took forever for www.collarspace.com to come up for me (yesterday), and then I get the same (Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)) today.

Could be just a DNS propagation delay if they've migrated the domain to a new host because it's now their front-line site.

Try going to http://68.68.104.29

As for the Tiffany/Eric thing... they are friends and I hope they heal. Eric's silence is not admirable and doesn't inspire trust. Tiffany's interference with the site is not admirable and doesn't inspire trust. If Eric owes her money, then this does not bode well for his future in business. Tiffany's use of her daughter's illness as a factor to be considered in business dealings reflects, at best, poor business sense, and at worst, vile parenting. They are both a mess!

What's clear on this thread is that conclusions drawn without facts reflect the poster's emotional life, hurt history and resentments towards "the other" sex.

This is the most fair statement about the situation I have read on this thread. (Although I still don't agree that Tiffany is "using" her daughter's illness.)

I bolded the "and" because I should have written, "or." Because, I don't know if it's a mistake (which all parents make) or if it's deliberate (which is vile). I am certain that it's wrong.

I thought about it before I posted. I considered the old boy network model of business dealings which exclude humanity if it profits them to do so. Then I thought about Ben & Gerry's and how they succeed using a more holistic approach to business. Ethics. Responsibility. The good stuff! I imagine Tiffany would have been treated differently by the ice cream guys. I think they would consider a family crisis in business decisions. So, maybe it would be okay to bring a kid into it.

Here's what tips the scale for me, towards the old school model of business in which everybody keeps personal stuff out of the meeting - CM was a part of the sex industry. That means there's a very strict boundary that excludes people who aren't adults. People in the mood for a kink site are reading about a kid! Not cool.

This is a business conflict. That's one issue. I'm okay with Tiffany's choice to air her perspective on business and to ask for understanding from those she affected with her method. Bringing a child into the mess pulls on heartstrings. That does not contribute to fair negotiation. To me, it's the difference between sitting with a kid on your lap, and saying, "Don't shoot me. I'm holding a child." and hiding the kid behind the chair and saying, "Please don't shoot my child."

Of course hearts go out to the child, and to her family. If finances are interfering with medical care, then Tiffany could have sent up a flare to the BDSM community, on behalf of her daughter. Near me, the community helps people regularly. But, that's a different process than mentioning it in a business battle.

Bottom line, for me... the daughter is dependent on parents to protect her. She is permanently connected to a sex industry web site. Her privacy and her right to protection from adult concerns - those choices were irrevocably taken from her.

I understand that it's difficult to keep silent when you know "if people knew the whole truth" they'd sympathize with you. But, good parents make the hard choices and sacrifices. What's worse? Violating a child's right to be insulated from a sex industry business OR Being misjudged and reviled for interference in a lot of people's fun?

Who benefits from adding a sick child to the business discussion? Not, the child! Which is why I say, "use."

I believe that the male partner already brought the baby into the conflict when without notice, he decided to terminate the contract after she notified him she needed some time off to deal with her child's heart defect. He used the fact that she would be too over-wrought or emotional to fight non-payment.

Tiffany was just laying out the facts which do unfortunately include the devastating diagnosis of severe Tetralogy of Fallot in her baby daughter.
I don't see that as using her child.
