SPOILERS if you watch Penny Dreadful or True Blood So, I just saw the clip of this m/m kiss on Penny Dreadful with the gorgeous Josh Hartnett (wasn't he absolutely adored here by MsAsylum? I can't remember her name? Is she still posting??). Then recently there was the juicy dream sequence in True Blood between Eric and Jason. Again, full on kissing. First, I am happy to see lots of straight men kissing on TV. Second, I'm wondering about how much this appeals to femdoms in general. I know I sure like it; and I am reminded of the total proliferation of slash fiction out there -- especially people writing about guys hooking up who are characters on popular shows or movies. Women are obviously writing these things I would assume (unless gay men also do, but I believe it's a woman thing). I hope the trend continues. Akasha

I'm all about men getting it on with each other, all sorts of hotness. Seeing straight couples never really did much of anything for me, but anything queer always gets my motor going. Perhaps because I find it easier to put myself into the role of the Top in gay or lesbian scenes, but watching a guy Top a girl is difficult for me to identify with.

Have to say it doesn't bother me if non-hetero couples kiss, hold hands, hug or other displays of public affection. But it doesn't turn me on either. I'm not much into voyeurism/exhibitionism--doesn't rev my engine. With "straight" guys? No way in hell. Nor between "straight" gals either, even if it's just kissing. Straight-on-straight sex smacks to me of desperation or else adolescent sexual experimentation (private gender-segregated school, prison, stranded on a desert island, inappropriate physical contact, et al). Settling for somebody other than whom you really want to be with, and using another human being for gratification, esp. as fuckbuddies, is not okay IMHO.

But the things I am pointing out are actors (who are presumably straight, but of course, who knows) engaging in same sex kissing. I am not 100% what is flipping my trigger here, but I can guess at it. I get off on the idea that one or both of these men are out of their comfort zone. Engaging in an act of intimacy. They are vulnerable. I like vulnerability. I like surrender. Seeing straight guys kissing (because they are actors, and this is their job and passion even if it's not comfortable for them, or is awkward, or weird, or even really, really difficult) is arousing -- for that reason. So when I say "straight guys kissing" I don't mean two guys just making out for random reasons. I think the reason behind it is what makes it erotic. And in well-done filming, it's of course portrayed in a very sensual way. I will admit, a lot of the arousal is my own imagination jacking me up. Of course, for some of these guys, the whole thing could be like, "Meh, it's my job. Doing a kissing scene with another guy is just as random as kissing a woman, don't care, it's what I do." Well, that's a killjoy! In my retched imagination, I psyche myself up that it's honestly a huge challenge, they feel nervous and uneasy, conflicted if they get aroused, and are also enduring it..for their ultimate goal of being good at what they do. Aakasha, Yes.... the dream by Jason, both of him and Wharlo and the shaving scene and especially the Eric and Jason "dream" scene, even with its tongue in cheek atmosphere, was VERY hot... I have the clip downloaded, and also the penny dreadful scene tooo. yummyness, im not gonna analyze why I like it, I just know i enjoy:)

I like it, too, but I don't connect it to being FemDom. Years ago, I was submissive and I liked the straight actor, Gale Harold, in his role as Brian Kinney on Queer As Folk. He kissed, spanked and rimmed his lover, Justin. Hal Sparks of MTV fame was also a straight actor playing sexually explicit gay scenes in QAF. I think if you check youtube you can find an interview in which these straight male actors discuss how they handled it. Knowing who struggled may enhance your viewing experience. :) Just yesterday, I saw a clip of The View, which showed straight actor, Scott Foley, kissing one of the hosts - who I don't know but he was wearing a lavender suit. LOL And, that wasn't acting. Foley plays Jake on Scandal. Also on that show is Jeff Perry. He's straight and portrays a very realistic gay man who comes out and marries his boyfriend. I think it is the best portrayal of gay marriage ever filmed. I hate to burst your bubble, so I'll concede that some straight actors do struggle with it. But, actors do choose to accept their roles, so those who are seriously conflicted would reject the job. While they may not know the scripts in advance, they each have contracts which delineate their boundaries. For example: no nudity, only top-less, or no same sex, erotic contact. I don't know if this appropriate but although I consider myself straight I have participated in forced bi. Every stage kiss I've ever done has been awkward as fuck (at least the first couple of times). It's really hard to act aroused and get physically intimate with someone you didn't pick for yourself. Even weirder when you have a dozen other people standing around watching and directing. Usually you only have one person at a time judging your technique. Still remember my first one... poor guy was trembling with fear.
