Midnightsnow -> Sensory Deprivation Hoods (8/10/2014 9:28:56 AM)

I've wanted to get on for a while now. The thought of my head being enclosed, unable to see or hear clearly and unable to take it off until I'm let out sparks curiosity as well as turning me on. Most of the ones I see pictures of in the stores online it looks like the eye pad is over the forehead and mouth hole is up near the nose. Or maybe it's just the perspective.

Does anyone here own one of these hoods? Does it fit well? Which ones have you found to be well made, and which less so? How was your experience in it?

Master got our hood from Fetters in Warwick, England, it laces on up the back then Master also locks it on with a padlock.

I think they do online ordering. There is a picture on my profile.
Good luck and i hope you find what you are looking for.

I agree with dannigirl1. Of the 6 or so hoods I have owned, none are even worth mentioning when compared to Fetter's. It is now over two years old, and not even a thread has come loose. The first few times I put it on, I did panic slightly even though I had owned 5 previous hoods, this one completely shuts out the outside world.

There are good hoods out there. But you need to do a little research. Google is your friend. Fetters is excellent. If you like latex Cocoon and Demask are good.

If you like sensory deprivation and do not have the money for a hood. I recommend plastic wrap, ear plugs and black electrical tape. Ear plugs will help to take away sound. Wrapping your head in many layers (20 to 30) of plastic wrap is a great sensory deprivation tool. The layering of the plastic wrap will make it creak with any head movement. It will make it very hard for you to hear things. Adding black electrical tape over the top takes away the light. Enjoy!

I can third the advise on getting a Fetters hood. Have several that are good, but none even come close to the fetters. I am in mine several times a week, and it is in as good of shape as when I bought it over 4 years ago.

My hood is from Mr. S, and looks like a bag attached to a collar. The collar can be padlocked. The airholes are at the throat, just above the collar. I love it since no light can get in, even with the collar undone for more air and my eyes wide open. I am fine with the sensory deprivation, but really enjoy the sensory overload when it comes off. Just wearing it for 5 or 10 minutes during setup gets me warmed up nicely.

I've got half a dozen hoods, but my favorite one is this one: http://www.wholesale-bdsm.com/heavy-duty-leather-hood-p-814.html

I've got it in leather, had it for years, and it's still in top shape. I haven't found anywhere else to beat that price on high quality leather sensory deprivation hoods.

Consider Sinvention's deprivation hood. I believe they made the first and continue to make them in Canada

As mentioned above, Fetters also has quality offerings and convenient if you are not in North America. Don't waste your money on an ebay / amazon copy.

Lucylastic -> RE: Sensory Deprivation Hoods (3/7/2017 7:42:22 PM)

For making your own, get a pair of spandex leggings, make some padded eye pieces and ear pads, add a zipper for the mouth/nose
its not hard, just time consuming, but then again, it depends how much sensory deprivation you are looking for.
There are plenty of patterns out there.
Leather is more than my skill level allows

duchkey -> RE: Sensory Deprivation Hoods (3/25/2017 11:39:30 PM)

I just posted a photo of the Prototype pattern hood, that I've been making. I've decided to take a step further in my leather work an attempt to make my own isolation Hood. I don't remember where I found the pattern that I used ( someplace on the internet) and I don't remember where I read that duct tape is a suitable and inexpensive imitation for pattern making of leather goods. The photo on my profile is the second cuting after fitting to a friend's head and marking the excess for trim.

I don't think it's going to be any less expensive then one of the Chinese hoods, and I may purchase one of them as well. This Hood could be used as is, and to tell you the truth I'm a little nervous to purchase the leather and begin the next phase.
