Care and conditioning of your rope as best described by EM;
Give the rope a good coat of beeswax. Pull the rope out tight and scrub it with a block of wax.
Boil it for five minutes, mostly to work the wax into it and dissolve excess wax into the water. I've found no difference between boiling it for an hour, versus just a few minutes.
Hang it up to dry under very high tension.
Do this and grab one tail with each hand. Saw it back and forth repeatedly to break the rope in, cause massive amounts of fibers to shed, and stand the scratchiest parts up for the next step.
Singe off all the raised burrs with a gas stove or a propane torch. Pass the rope rapidly through the flame.
Oil with a good dose of jojoba oil ($10 for a bottle at GNC stores all over the U.S.) and leave it to soak in and dry overnight.
