ORIGINAL: StrongSpirit Anyone on dialysis here? i am told it is in my future years from now and would like to know how it interferes with kink. Friend of mine has polycystic kidneys. About the size of footballs he says but I think that may be a slight exaggeration. But they are definitely enlarged according to the docs. He is in his late 40s and his renal function is down to 11 % so it is time for them to install the pipes. That happens in a couple of days actually. He has been hearing to watch his protein intake, so you might want to watch how much eat you eat. You have to eat some meat, but less of it. So go for quality. You gonna give your kidneys (or that machine) a workout make it worth it. Mixed nuts might be good. Like Planter's "less than 50 % peanuts" mixed nuts. Whatever brand you buy make sure on the back it does not say hydrogenated anywhere or olestra. That shit will make you much sicker much quicker. You like salads ? You can get really creative with them. Even add meat. I used to eat salads with a fried chicken breast on top, thrown on there so it melts the cheese and it kind sticks a bit. You just cut it with your knife and you have a piece of chicken, some lettuce, onion, tomato and some of that pizza cheese. You are getting protein there, but not too much of it. If the dialysis puts your numbers right you can probably eat more of that stuff. When they plug you in they should have your numbers right away, and can determine how often you need to come in. My friend's Mother went four times a week and the web says three times a week. I think the web will back me up about limiting protein when living with this condition but I am not a doctor at all. I have dine a shit ton of research but that really doesn't mean much. But diet is the key to everything because you are what you eat. You were born what, 8 or 9 pounds ? Where did the rest of it come from ? I have called upon supposed scholars about this, correlation between heredity and mineral/nutrient requirements and they are like "Duh". And a doctor made up a drug for Black people tailored to their particular form on hypertension and high cholesterol, just a combination of two drugs, and they tore into him for being racist. He saw that the Black patients were getting these two drugs and wanted to make it easier by just combining them into one pill. That's racist. Now I think of it, my buddy told me he ate some beans and got sick. Not proven the cause but... But he ate keilbasa not long ago and did not get sick. Correlation is not always causation. But the fact remains that someone else ate some of those beans and did not get sick. Hmm, he gave me some dried beans a while back, maybe I should throw them out. Anyway, just use the right words in Google and there is all kinds of information out there. T^T
