Vixen72 -> Anal sex hygiene (2/28/2016 10:03:03 AM)

To all those ladies out there- what is the best way to maintain anal hygiene (sounds like an oxymoron, I know). After some play last weekend, I developed a UTI. Don't want that to happen again. I want to enjoy anal play without any worries. Any advice?

IntriguingSub4U -> RE: Anal sex hygiene (2/28/2016 10:12:49 AM)

I would say once you go through the back door, don't go through the front one again until both have washed with soap and water. It may be counter-productive to play, but the alternative is a UTI, which if not caught in time has the potential to creep up a ureter and become a kidney infection. That will land you in the hospital on IV antibiotics, and it's very painful. Warm regards, Vixen!

Use condoms on the toys. Change condoms after insertion. Wash hands after removing condom and before putting new condom on the toy.

If that is taking too much time buy toys dedicated for backside play only.

Learn sterile techniques for handling toys. IE: once you touch the backdoor toy, you cannot touch other toys until you have washed your hands or changed gloves.

Always pee after sex.

Pubic hair and secretions can help bacteria travel, so if he had anal sex with you even if he wore a condom, he should wash... as should you.

Make sure your partner isn't going from hole to hole with the same toy/fingers/appendage or what have you.
Keep your toys clean.
Condoms are your friend.

Sometimes UTI's just happen also- I have sensitive girl parts- and I get them from time to time just because.

Sometimes I wish I hadn't taken parasitology because the one word of caution I have for the OP is ....

Pinworm

PS: You don't know how gross parasitology is until you are forced to study it in intimate detail!

[sm=thanks.gif]Thanks for the advice all. I already pee after sex and try to wash myself regularly, including after a play session. The only thing I can think is that there was some sort of cross contamination at some point. I just have to be extra careful and use condoms on toys from now on. I've tried taking cranberry capsules after sex, but didn't seem to work last time. Is there any truth to the cranberry thing? Are women more likely to get a UTI from an uncut guy?

You may want to get checked for stds also. If you are taking cranberry after sex it sounds like it happens often? A STD can keep causing an UTI without STD symptoms.
Anything that touches or is inserted in the backdoor, should not go near the vagina.

Nor anywhere else.

I think crumpets is being a bit sensationalistic with bringing up pinworms. Pinworms are not typically found in healthy adult populations and definitely not typical of urinary tract infections. Trichomonas is a parasite that is far more likely to be a cause of urinary tract infections than pinworm. (I used to see it with alarming regularity when I lived on Maui. Mind you, most were urine specimens with vaginal contamination and not directly from the urine.) Granted, Trichomonas vaginalis is not found in stool. But there are a myriad of gastro-intestinal tract parasites aside from pinworms.

The only other bit of information I can pass on that doesn't repeat the good advice others have provided is the use of D-mannose. It works wonderfully for most UTI's. (I am speaking from personal experience here.) The vast majority of urinary tract infections are caused by E. coli and it's this type of bacteria that D-mannose helps flush out of your system. If the type of bacteria causing your UTI isn't E. coli, or one with similar properties, then D-mannose won't work. You could try D-mannose prophylactically, it may nip any potential infections from starting up, but if you already have one, D-mannose is going to do more than cranberry juice ever will.

It's a bit pricey, but you can find it in your local health food or vitamin store. I personally prefer the powder over capsules, but to each his own. If you're diabetic, manufacturer's will caution against its use because it is a type of sugar. In that case, you might check with your doc.

I hope the above helps!!

uncut men can retain some material called smegma so if they wash it wont make a difference.

Sure it will. You just have to clean it properly.

Enjoy! I thought it was a well written, entertaining piece! :D

As for the cranberry - my mum swears by it, and my urologists recommend it. I'm pretty sure there were studies done that showed a positive result with cranberry capsules.

My sweetie and I enjoy anal, and use it mostly as the grand finale in our sex play. Never had an issue with UTI's , but did have to educate my sweetie on the whole no-going-back-and-forward thing. Apparently he watched too much porn and was taking cues from it. lol.

Some women are prone to chronic UTIs.

* Pee after sex/play
* Drink more Water
* Change condoms between switching orifices
* Do NOT let fingers go in your butt before touching anything else (unless they use gloves)
* Wet Wipes are love.
* If you think you have cross-contamination, show afterwards.

** Do not use soap inside of your vagina EVER.

Regarding chronic UTIs, my wife suffered from the for years. It was practically clockwork: we'd clean up, we'd have sex, she'd pee,we'd clean up, next day the UTI symptoms started. We didn't do any anal and kept hygienic to a possibly excessive degree in an attempt to stop the UTI problem. Eventually her doc recommended she take this medication post-coital, just one pill each time we had sex in addition to the peeing afterwards. Nitrofurontin Macrocrystals, I think is the name. It's dirt cheap and worked a wonder. She hasn't had a UTI in years!

Regarding anal sex and hygiene, everyone else is pretty much covering it.

Don't use enemas unless you've been medically trained. DO NOT go from ass-to-vagina when having sex. You can go vagina-to-ass, but NOT vise versa (due to nasty bacterial going from butt to vagina). Vagina has delicate tissue in every sense of the word (ph and all). Just water is really enough to "Clean" your butt. Don't be on an all-liquid diet (this is a surprisingly common thing in the adult baby community). If you eat something that turns your poop an odd color, obviously don't eat it :P But yeah, on keeping things clean, just letting water run around it/barely in the butt is enough to keep it clean. Also, keep your fecal matter regular.
