I smiled as she approached, she bit her lower lip in that nervous fashion so many women unconsciously do. I told her to sit pointing to the chair across from me, she smiled a thank you and another as I placed a drink down in front of her. She looked up into my dark blue eyes, "what's this?" "I made it just for you, you'll like it", then I turned away to deal with other customers. I waited a good five minutes to return to her, though I saw her looking at me and trying to catch my eye. I made a point of chatting up everyone else including a couple of good looking servers for a good bit, playfully flirting with them. Finally I returned with a grin, "so how is it?" She gave me her best smile, struggling to keep my attention, "I love it, it's so good, what is it?" A small playful grin, "well if I told you then it wouldn't be a secret and we can't have that can we? Secrets are too much fun to ruin". I inquired about how she was, listened intently to each word while always asking her about her feelings in regard to each encounter. The what being boring as it always is, but how we feel always has some interest. A few moments more, then I distracted myself with others leaving her alone until she needed to settle up and leave, clearly feeling a bit ignored. I let another bartender deal with her cash out as I stepped outside to have a cig. I was leaning against the wall as she walked by giving me a wave, almost certainly feeling dejected. I called out to her, "Alice" and she turned slowly. "I want to take you out tonight after work", a clean statement and eye contact. I held and waited for her reply. She mumbled something about being a bit busy with work, blushing, clearly off balance. "It won't take long, meet me at 1130 at Murphys. I'd like to unwind a bit and talk to you in a more intimate setting". She grinned shyly and gave me an "Ok, I'd like that" "good girl, I'll see you then", without another look or glance I flipped away my cig and went back inside. My face with still but inside I was grinning from ear to ear.
