It's lovely to give away old books to charity, but one bookstore in Wales is asking readers to please, for the love of god, stop giving them their old copies of 'Fifty Shades of Grey.'

The Oxfam bookshop in Swansea has received so many used copies of the notorious erotic book series that they were able to build a fort out of them. A very derivative, poorly written fort.

DC, you wouldn't happen to know if this is the same (general) location of the hotels that were putting "50 Shades" in the rooms for reading material, would you? That would be hysterical.

Now and then, I muse about trying to revive the annual book sale at my church.

This definitely gives me second thoughts. [:)]

Yep. There was a thread on it somewhere, here. It was being reported as somewhere in the UK. I remember it because they were taking bibles out in favor of "50 Shades". I'll try to find it.

yes there was a hotel that was trading out the gideons bibles for the fifty shades here in the us as well. i guess they gave up trying to save their souls and tried for more money from increased use of the rooms[sm=sex.gif]

That fort of books had me howling with laughter and I had to wonder if some smart ass took a black light to them to photo whatever mosaic of body fluids showed up. (Imagines Monk howling for bleach, lol)

I finally broke down out of curiousity bought it....and I wish I could get rid of the horrid thing....but it was the Kindle edition.

I bought it when it came out because I wanted to know what the whole media circus was about, it came in handy when we had a BBQ and I usually HATE burning books...

Though I do have to admire the author, she made a ton of money from horrendous writing.
