Whoever the moderators are in a chatroom or forum have the right to do so. They likely did so after you were warned about something and replied in a snarky or nasty way. Moderators don't have to put up with bs from anyone whether that someone believes they were telling the truth or not.

Another! your the second in the last couple of dayso on here moaning about a ban...you need to watch yourself on the truth serum in those places, and that other place...this site has a nice banner somewhere stating its a member/supporter of free speech. So in essence no-one. FR I got chucked from a chatroom the other day. Somebody said something stupid, I called them on it, somebody else said my comment was offensive, and being in a bitchy mood I tore a strip off them and got bounced immediately. The next day I was able to get back in. So I would say if you got bounced, the odds are you likely did need some time away from the chatroom anyway. Take a break and go back tomorrow with a better attitude.

The obvious powers of the ops give them the right to ban you for life if they so choose. I was K-lined (bounced) and when I could not return, wrote the op in question an email explained that his actions were disproportional to what was said. In return, I got banned for life. He replied with the following email which he claimed that I would never post in its entirety (the names have been withheld as per this site's TOS). As I have nothing to hide and wish to ensure that others who have been banned may have a voice..I have actually posted the email that I was told I would never have the courage to do. I believe that unchecked powers of censorship and banishment go against the grain of what this site stands for. I am still banned for life and will probably be so for perpetuity. Literally, you AGREED to the use of the site under the site's stipulations. It is not your "RIGHT" to use the website. It's a PRIVILEGE that you have been afforded. I did post the entire exchange...every single word of both emails. No form letters, no prior notices, no flowers. What you read is what happened...and un-named op will delete this thread as well as it is making him appear like a bully (not my words).

One thing a lot of people seem to not understand, especially within the IRC/chat culture: Both at the server level, and at the individual rooms level, you do not have any rights or freedoms that those in charge do not give you. They allow you in, because they want to, not because they have to. Think of it like someone allowing you in to their private home--They may do so, and they may ask and force you to leave at any time, for any reason, or even for no reason at all. They have that right; You do NOT have any right to demand fairness, "freedom of speech", or refuse to leave, etc. The only real rules and policies that are strictly and universally enforced are the site Terms of Services, and other policies as listed on the website's footers. Outside of that, it's "The Law of the (Wild) West"--If they have the power to kick you out, they have the right to do so, regardless of whether of not you think it' fair, just, petty, power abuse, or whatnot. Most of the mods/hosts/chanops/etc, will indeed try to be "fair" and at least listen to you, if you present your case with courtesy and not in an attacking tone. But there is no requirement for them to do so. If you cannot accept and live with this, you don't have to come on the chat; It's not like chat is one of the necessities of life. Turn the computer off and go to the park or local coffee house, instead.

You are not being censored, denied your rights, or any of the other things you are trying to imply. Heck, now that I've seen the exchange, I'm not going for the other bit that you were trying to pass off in the other thread about how you're calling yourself "well respected," because the comment wasn't really called for. Had you been in my living room and said that, I absolutely would have shown you the door and made it clear that you were not welcome to return. If the Mod in question or the other party interpreted that comment as a threat, that's all that is necessary to remove your privileges. Have you taken the advice given about actually reading ToS? Are you a big enough person to remove your personal feelings about how you think this should go? If you owned a bar, and one of your customers said the above to another patron, would you have found that acceptable?
