I have been told that they are a race of kinky perverts but cannot find anything about them online save for a tourist guide to some off the track place called Nepal.

I see you've not heard of Google!!

382,000 hits for Gurkha regiment.

Might be worth a look.

Gurkha, crazy tribesman from India who served in the English army with distinction and most noted for scaring German soldiers shitless during the North African campaign.

Of course, when you have a bunch of knife swinging madmen charging your trenches, it might unnerve anyone.

Now, the downside for the Gurkha is that after long and distinguished careers, few were rewarded with british citizenship, a fact addressed a few years ago by parliament.

voila... Gurkha. Now you are educated as to what one of the worst balanced knives for knife play looks like. Not too bad for a knife fight they say, but unwieldy for knife play. Well not knife play the way some people think of it I guess. If you don't actually use the sharp end of the blade, it probable doesn't matter. But for actual cutting, blood sport, in my personal experience, I found it an awkward, lumbering boat anchor of a blade. Personal preference I guess. Gave mine away long ago.

Beware that you ever find out about that magical thing that is known as Google, or really any search engine of your choice....

Wise man say, when challenged to a knife fight, bring sniper rifle.

However, this particular knife is great for hacking, cleaving, splitting, etc, but not so good at much else, per RS.

All that being said, I have found it makes a very good substitute for a machete in some regions.

They were traditionally used as tools as well as weapons - great for cutting undergrowth, for instance. But I agree about their unwieldiness: in the UK, you could get cheap copies everywhere at one time. I never got used to the feel of mine.

Side story: during the campaign to allow the Gurkha veterans residency here in the UK, I marked a kid's essay on the issue. He was very much in favour of letting 'the Gherkins' retire to Britain. When I later told my Dad the essay, his retort was 'No way. The country's in enough of a pickle as it is'.

You are on the correct track OP with the latter....the former escapes me valiant sock turd of woebegone aspect.

PeonForHe the UK/Empire betrayed them...now you know I know you already know this

I think our army of the empire typically employed 500ish - someone may correct me, and we cast them asunder denied many residency..well pigfukers from england did, never Scotland

I bet the weighty end makes for good follow through. Making it better than a machete chopping through thick brush.

Ahhhhh, sniper rifles. There is an all day conversation.

Sister locked up your ammo... that is unacceptable!!! However, if you are "going without cigarettes" and you are ready to kill every living human on the planet (except the munchmonster and girl with irish accent & blow job talents)... then maybe she should be forgiven since it was in the greater interest of public safety.

If you want to quite smoking painlessly, use a high quality hobby level ecigarette. Those awesome high-end vaporizers can deliver more nicotine and a denser vapor than smoking. You won't get cravings since it upgrades the experience, unlike those cheap ecig kits they sell in drug stores that leave you with cravings.

Actually, she is trying to get me off nicotine completely, something about having been smoking since I was 13 (although I did quit for 7 years, and I blame the engineers at Ford for my starting up again) and since I will be 57 this year, I should seriously consider making some health changes.

My argument is that considering the present condition of the planet in general, what 'society' considers acceptable behavior, and what humans do to other humans in the name of whatever benevolent god they worship, smoking and the occasional whiskey fueled binge drinking session is my way of coping without trying to exterminate 75% of the people on the planet.

I had a Tshirt made that reads "The planet needs an Enema."

I think you're thinking of merkins, Ron. They were used to cover prostitutes' growlers when the latter weren't in use.
