Actually, I have a different perspective than most that have been shared here. I think it might be a legitimate request.

I have two friends who are Dommes who both ask people to join Alt in order to communicate with them. The reason that they do this is because they believe that there are too many wankers on free sites like FetLife and CollarSpace. Thus, they use Alt as a sort of screening mechanism. The believe that if a person is serious, they should be willing to fork over a little bit of cash to communicate via a pay site. If they aren't willing to do that, then the Dommes simply move on and assume they weren't serious.

I'm not saying that I agree with this practice, but I had to chime in since I know people who actually do this who are NOT trying to scam anyone. In fact, it's quite the opposite; they're trying to keep themselves from being scammed.

Yes, you do have a different perspective. That said, this request is also symptomatic of a "stealing Credit Card scam". So the First Thing to assume is a SCAMMER!

The scam is that he/she sends you a link and says "join this site so I can talk to you" too many wankers here.

When you click the link it works just as it would if you googled the site.

Sooner or later though, you have to use a credit card to talk with the person ... lol

Then the credit card processing is NOT what you get on a legitimate site.

Sorry to ask this, but do you know what your two friends do for a living? Could they be involved in stealing credit card numbers?

Please do remember, men have to pay to communicate with women on most sites.

If someone says, hey, I use xyz site, I am there all the time, I chat there -- on the surface that seems fine.

If they want you to join using a link like this: www.sitexxx.com/?ppDa13c

And you use that link, and you join and pay, you have just sent them money via the site's Affiliate system. You can google "alt.com affiliate" or just look at the pages on this link on the Alt.com site itself -

https://alt.com/p/partners/main.cgi?action=summary_sites

Alt.com has hundreds of people using the affiliate program to make money. They make emails or little web pages pretending to be women who really really have the hots and want to chat or meet you online via this advertised site and no other. I get them every week. If you haven't seen those email, you are a lucky one!

bondage.com anyone still on that one?

Bondage.com went dark years ago but was resurrected recently. The site is owned by the same company that owns Alt. And, right on the front page, in the small print at the bottom:
"Persons appearing in photographs may not be actual members."

If someone is asking you to go offsite before you have exchanged communications for a while here, you can pretty much assume it's a scam.
