My classes from grade 2 onward required use of fountain pen for all writing, pencil being allowed only for math.

But then I only walked three blocks to school, not five miles.

Cushy job.

erm isnt the binary code math?
Isnt Hex code math?
derp

No wait, that was full-word in assembler language, sorry.

Hexidecimal is 1-9 then ABCDEF to get us up to 15.

I am daft, sorry.

Memory

to be fair I use hex codes everyday.

Edited to add...
It all started back in 86 after having my eldest child, during our down time, I helped input fifteen pages of hex code into a commodore 64 for a machine code assembler.

But then this is why music geeks are smarter than computer geeks, the former figuring out how to get along without a zero when adding or subtracting music intervals.

I'm not seeing where I said they weren't. I was saying we had to use the fountain pen for all non-math purpose. And you'd better have enough ink cartridges with you to get through all the in-class exercises.

In any case we weren't doing binary or hexidecimal in first-sixth grade back then, though I'm sure that's changed by now.

I did manage to make a B in Fortan IV with Watfor and Watfiv in the tenth grade. Don't remember one bit of it. (I can't believe that text book is still available, this is like 'ancient history, still sold in stores!').

I honestly don't see how I did that, because that was my first class after coming off the morning paper route which got me up at 4:00 AM (all walking, including to the drop-off). I remember internally screaming at myself to keep my head from falling on the desk.

Good gosh, I was just kidding, there.

I already admitted the wrong ("you A-to- Z'd me on that one"), then the addendum as a joke.

MY you are touchy today.

The girl next door and I tried stringing the cans. Probably only 20 feet.
Didn't work for talking but alerted us to open the windows and yell.

(Uphill...in the motherfucking SNOW!!!)

"0100/1100/0011/0100/1011/1000/1010/1010/11(??)"

"2/3/12/2/13/1/5/5/3" or, "231-221-31553"

Base two hexidecimal to base ten conversion, I hope I remembered that right.

Was it excessive snow that made the girls' phone numbers one digit longer by way of frosty memory up there?

(Occasionally I used small bricks in lieu of 0's and 1's).
