Status: offline 		The reports here are that until the last few days, the Carl Vinson and her consorts have been involved in exercises with the R.A.N...........Maybe that was just a smokescreen to cover up where she really was and our blokes were running around and making lots of noise, pretending to be both fleets.

Status: offline 		With the speed that the Vinson et al are capable of; IF the order was issued on the 8th, she would have passed through the Sunda Strait on about the 11th I would guess. At 16 knots, some of the old tubs I sailed on, could make it from Brisbane to Singapore in a week or maybe a little less, so she should have been a LOT further north and east by the 15th.

Well aren't you the geography whiz. The Vinson, however, was operating several hundred miles south of Singapore, taking part in exercises with Australian forces in the Indian ocean (map). It's participation was curtailed by the April 8th order and it began heading north sometime thereafter, passing through the Sunda Strait three days ago on its way to Korean waters.

Status: offline 		The Vinson is capable of covering at least 600+ miles a day, at cruising speed, so depending on which waters she was operating in, ( usually those exercises are held in the Coral Sea), I still hold she could easily have passed through the Sunda Strait by about the 11th or 12th at the latest.

We don't know at what point in time she started north. We only know that her participation in the exercises was curtailed by the order, and that she is now heading toward Korean waters.

Status: offline 		I was wrong; her cruising speed is about 30+ knots, so about 700 to 750 miles a day. her top speed is estimated to be about 40 to 45 knots, so guess at about 1000 miles a day. She should easily be off Korea by now or very shortly

Status: offline 		3500 miles ? That's about 4 days at her top speed or 5 to 6 days at her cruising speed, so if she's NOT off Korea now, yep, that nice Mister Trump has lost her ( or at least his minions have).
