Well the 'fundamentalism' that the left doesn't get is that the 'big' bang was for 'big' power over people and a 'big' profit that results. They will have to come around eventually because that premise has been firmly established and becoming more ingrained everyday. The left doesn't get that big power and big profits are the driving force for life's existence and if anyone can't produce a profit for themselves or somebody else, or come to obedience of the state that empowers this concept, they can go to jail or just die.

The left just doesn't understand for one important area, that it will be the easy profits of fossil fuels for 2 centuries (when they run out) rather than 1/2, is to be enjoyed by the investor class at the geopolitical and military expense of the rest. The left will never understand a society that allows manslaughter for profit, war for hegemony and singularly, the real reason to have superpower status.

The left doesn't understand [it] needs to care more for another's unborn more than the 37,000 born that die everyday before enjoying their 5th birthday from simply not enough to eat.

The left will never grasp the concept that debt IS 'wealth' as exemplified by the capitalist owning and its great proletariat forced to pay, the debt service on $70 trillion in public and private debt or dealing with $120 trillion in unfunded liabilities, having simply refinanced its 'wealth' since WWII. Something which with the socialist will never come to terms. And why should he, when say for one example, he pays 1/2 what the capitalist does for his health care and lives 3-4 years longer and getting longer while the capitalist begins soon...to die younger.

Nope, the left just doesn't get it. [He] doesn't get that even intellectuals on the right recognize that man's 'inevitable' ascendancy is not so...inevitable anymore. The left doesn't want to understand that despite mankind's great surviving progressivism ended when he discovered slavery a very necessary improvement over cannibalism and that [he] is still a hunter/gatherer and in all of these 200,000 years or 6-10,000 years depending on one's believe in science or some stone age fairy tales, has done in fact, is leave the cave or hut.

Thus proving that the only thing Kant missed when firmly establishing that history will always be written in blood and why...is the cash.

its been studied, and mentioned here before, that left and right enjoy different kinds of music and watch different shows on tv.

im not aware of anything that shows it, but I suspect the same is true for literature and itd make for an interesting study.

im skeptical for instance that the left would enjoy, at least as much as the right, the counter-terrorism type stuff that's become popular in recent years.

I just started a brad thor book called "the path of the assassin" and recently read a section that might fit under the large umbrella of this thread, and it speaks to differences between left and right in terms of how we view human nature.

quote:

harvath had always marveled that these kinds of law enforcement operations (a clandestine take-down of a bad guy) happened around the world on a daily basis and that most people had no idea. so many took civilization for granted without realizing that it was birthed and maintained at the point of a sword. someone needed to hold the sword and even, on occasion, swing it in order to help stave off chaos.--p19--

ultimately, the leftie view of man fails to materialize, and seems to be preserved with a fervor that can only be understood as faith without reason.

I love it when big mouth right wing fanatics try to make a case against socialist economics without having the slightest bit of education on the history of say oil in Venezuela. Ignorant of that history leads true-believers like Bosox to point fingers of blame in any direction that will absolve the "free" markets of any complicity in the tragedy that has befallen the Venezuelan people. As far as Bosox is concerned Venezuela was an Adam Smith paradise of private industry before the evil Hugo Chavez came along in 1999. Well, that is just ignorant bullshit.

Between 1920 and 1935 the production and export of oil boomed from 1.9% to 91.2% and Venezuela was the second leading exporter in the world. As commonly happens when one commodity becomes the star other sectors of the nation's economy suffer. With all the attention paid to oil, the production of agriculture decreased from one-third in the 1920s to one-tenth in the 1950s. Neither Hugo Chavez nor socialism were players at that time.

The first new attempt to gain control over the oil industry was passed in 1943 when Venezuela cut themselves 50% of the profit. Something similar happened in Iran, as I recall. Hugo was nowhere in sight.

By the 1950s the world markets were flooded with oil and the United States imposed an embargo, or import quotas. Oil prices plummeted.

The US quotas on oil imports led to the formation of OPEC. Prices rose again.

Oil income quadrupled and the Venezuelan president (not Hugo) promised to use the money to relieve poverty and correct shitty medical care in his country. But OPEC countries cheated, increased production, and depressed oil revenue in the 1980s. Venezuela went deeper into debt despite several attempts to nationalize oil in the 1970s. When oil prices recovered in the 1990s other industrial production trailed off.

Chavez came in while oil rose again in 1999, and he, like some of his predecessors, pledged to use the income to help the poor. Chavez bet heavily on oil, but oil prices collapsed in 2014. State government mismanagement? No doubt. Free market culpability, also no doubt.

What is particularly offensive here is that we have a post by Bosox chortling in glee over the economic devastation of our fellow humans because he thinks it proves some sordid ideological point. It doesn't. The free markets have failed too many times and devastated peoples' resources too often to stand all clean and shining on a hilltop like some avatar of purity. Only ideological idiots could ever try to make a case for the sanctity of "free markets" like they were properly placed in the pantheon of the gods. Pathetic shit.

You can't handle the truth. Venezuela was overly dependent on the price of oil.
Same thing happened in North Dakota when the price of shale oil crashed. How funny you don't know what effects market prices can have on people's lives. Years and years . . . yeah, right.

How can this be? Socialism needs to pump vast quantities of oil, and sell it at extremely high capitalist pig prices to function in a very minimal manner???

Say it ain't so, Groucho

What kind of a failed, piece-of-shit system is that

Oh gee, IDK. Whyn't you ask the people of the great bubble-busted free market state of North Dakota where all the rigs went to and what should they do with all the street whores left behind after the shale oil circus left town?

Capital Lodge — one of the Bakken's largest crew camps — now sits abandoned. The 1,100-bed temporary housing facility east of Williston cost $40 million to build. The camp went under after the county raised annual permitting fees, coupled with plummeting demand for beds.

[image][/image]

Unregulated capitalism . . . what sort of system is that? It's not a system; it's just grown up cops and robbers.

No one anywhere near the Dakotas is starving, rioting, doing without toilet paper, etc.

In fact, some in the area want to stop oil from moving, they are so fat and sassy

Many regions on the planet are dependant on oil wealth, yet only the state of Bernie Sanders / Venezuela is enduring the massive and extreme hardships that Venezuela is seeing

Why are you slow that such simple, basic, obvious facts have to be pointed out for you

If you weren't so blinded by Ayn Rand's pussy in your face you would realize there is a significant difference between a state with open borders and a nation with closed borders. "There are no homeless shelters in the city of Williston. So, instead, the Salvation Army is giving one-way bus tickets to people who are out of work and have no place to stay to help them get home."

That is why they are not desperate for food and medical supplies in North Dakota, but they are in Venezuela. Columbia is just limited in the supplies they can provide across the border. The Venezuelans are trapped. Their misery is all about misguided nationalism and the refusal/inability of the pan-American states to help. Soon enough Exxon will send in their man Jesse James to offer ten cents on the dollar. You call that a "system" because you were lucky enough not to be born and raised in bad times. . . and capitalism always brings bad times. I am not an advocate of socialism; I wouldn't wish to live under a socialist system, but I am happy to point out the historic faults that have resulted from deregulated capitalism.

I am also happy to point out that anyone who rejoices at the misery of other humans to wave a flag for some flawed ideology is just green, stagnant pond scum.
