That poor dog was taken in by a family who loved, cared and gave an abandoned animal a home.
We all try to do the best for our pets, but sometimes things happen outside our control. Kids leave a door or gate open. A meter reader doesn't lock the latch or a smart animal digs his/her way out or jump or climbs.

Back the hell off, and stop adding insult to his injury.

If you can't be kind, just shut the fuck up already.

ETA I'm sorry for being vulgar, but jlf lost his companion. He is grieving, and hurtling and no one should be kicked while they are down.

Kera got out of the yard this evening and was hit by a car and killed down on the road.

She had not been outside long and somehow managed to find a way out.

Blu, the pocket pit rescue also got out and we are still trying to find him.

Good job.

Maybe dial down the bitch a bit? Seriously, something's are just too damn out of line.

Sorry. I'm a dog lover and i hate it when people don't take care of their dogs and the poor thing gets killed because of it.

Hey shit head, the dog jumped an 8 foot fence, something she had never done before.

So, go fuck yourself.

I got her when she had been abandoned, shot three times and left to die. She was 35 pounds underweight and the vet didnt give her a snow balls chance in hell and that was in 2013.

I checked the fence line and there was no sign of her digging her way out either you fucking shit for brains worthless bastard.

FR it's funny how he's so willing to blame a mistake on you jlf, but when it comes to any situation involving things he agrees with, it's always someone else at fault. Talk about a pathetic excuse for a human being, he'd rather embrace anger and vindictiveness rather than compassion regarding an unfortunate circumstance. It's people that think the way he does that makes the world such an ugly place to live.

Also Jlf, you have my condolences, my childhood dog passed away a couple years ago so I can sympathize. All the best to you.

yeah, 8 foot hog wire fence and she had to have gone over it, she sure as hell didnt go under it. I put 4 x 16 foot steel runway sections down in the ground to keep her from doing that.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. They are four legged family that share love and other emotions with us. You have my empathy and my deepest sympathies.

And as far as tamaka goes, by the time I read her second post I put her on ignore. You should too.

Really sorry to hear about your loss, jeff. Losing a beloved pet is always terrible.

quote:

Near this Spot
are deposited the Remains of one
who possessed Beauty without Vanity,
Strength without Insolence,
Courage without Ferocity,
and all the virtues of Man without his Vices.

This praise, which would be unmeaning Flattery
if inscribed over human Ashes,
is but a just tribute to the Memory of
Boatswain, a Dog
who was born in Newfoundland May 1803
and died at Newstead Nov. 18th, 1808

When some proud Son of Man returns to Earth,
Unknown to Glory, but upheld by Birth,
The sculptor’s art exhausts the pomp of woe,
And storied urns record who rests below.
When all is done, upon the Tomb is seen,
Not what he was, but what he should have been.
But the poor Dog, in life the firmest friend,
The first to welcome, foremost to defend,
Whose honest heart is still his Master’s own,
Who labours, fights, lives, breathes for him alone,
Unhonoured falls, unnoticed all his worth,
Denied in heaven the Soul he held on earth –
While man, vain insect! hopes to be forgiven,
And claims himself a sole exclusive heaven.

Oh man! thou feeble tenant of an hour,
Debased by slavery, or corrupt by power –
Who knows thee well, must quit thee with disgust,
Degraded mass of animated dust!
Thy love is lust, thy friendship all a cheat,
Thy tongue hypocrisy, thy heart deceit!
By nature vile, ennobled but by name,
Each kindred brute might bid thee blush for shame.
Ye, who behold perchance this simple urn,
Pass on – it honours none you wish to mourn.
To mark a friend’s remains these stones arise;
I never knew but one — and here he lies.

Jeff, you have my most heart felt condolences. You know that I have loved following Kera since the first moment she came in to your life, and only in the last couple of days have photos of her shown up on my facebook page. Truly, I'm heartbroken for your loss.

Huge hugs

Needles xx

Got off the phone with the wolf rescue/rehab center in Del Rio.

The person I talked to said that, in his opinion, since she was well fed, she would not have jumped the fence unless there was something she considered a threat near.

This could mean a stray dog or even a person.

And in that instance, even a 10 foot fence might not have stopped her.

However, due to the fact that I have supported this organization for some time, the administrator did say that there are pups that come in that cannot for some reason be reintroduced into the wild, and should I agree to participate in the breeding program, I would be considered for one.

They will cover the fees necessary for me keeping a full blood wolf and also come up and make any modifications to the fence needed. It also means that I would get some help in the dietary needs of a full blood wolf.

While I am not in a rush to replace Kera, no animal will, it seems that there are people who have been a part of mine and kera's life that feel that I need a new companion asap.

I placed Kera next to the grave of the 14 year old "alpha mom" we lost a few years ago that mothered Kera when she first arrived. She is under a nice tree and to insure that she is undesturbed, I placed some extremely heavy outdoor ceramic tiles over the grave.

There is also a statue of my mother's favorite saint near there, St. Francis.

That would be wonderful to continue the great work you do, and be able to give one of those pups a home. There can't be that many people with your set up, or your knowledge able to do this, so if you could it may be just what both you and the pup need.

Has there been any word on Blu yet?

Blu is home.

He was picked up by a deputy last evening and taken to the local shelter, which made him mad, since he knew where blu lived (he had the misfortune of having his watch commander with him for his annual eval.)

Blu is home, microchipped (part of the program at the shelter when a lost dog is picked up) so that if it happens again, instead of a 40 fee, it will be a 10 dollar fee and we get a call.

Since blu lost his tags in his wanderings yesterday, we also had to pay for him to get his shots all over again (would not have happened but his vet is on vacation... fishing... in Canada.)

Like there are no fish in West Texas! What is the draw of trout and northern pike? for that matter wtf is a northern Pike?

I also got a call from a hybrid breeder in Colorado who works with the lady that we got Kera from. She called him this morning and passed on my phone number.

He is a breeder that provides hybrids for the military and various law enforcement agencies, high content gray timber wolf shepherds. Should he come end up with an extra pup in the near future, he has said he will fly the animal to me, with all the necessary paper work to offset the recently passed BSA law in Texas.

He will also help put a jump barrier on the fence which means adding another 3 foot high section of fencing angled back toward the yard.

While he says that is not actually required, he feels it will aliviate some of my concerns since we still have not figured out how in the hell they got out in the first place. The gate is padlocked, they cant dig under the fence, and there are no holes in the fence anywhere. And while blue might be able to force his way through the grid of the hog wire, kera was way to large to attempt it, she could not even get more than her nose through the squares.

My condolences Jeff. I know how beloved she was to you and it's so hard to lose a pet like that. I also know you cared more for those dogs than you do most people. I hope you can find some peace. All my love.

Oh, I'm so glad that Blu is home safe and sound. The rest of it all sounds good too, and a testament to you too that these people are willing to go to such lengths, and costs to place these wonderful animals in your care.

As for Northern Pike; they are large fresh water predator fish, and if the Canadian ones are anything like ours here in the UK, the fight like a bugger when hooked! Sometimes you'll even catch them inadvertently, especially here on the canals, just because you're fishing something else. A friend of mine has a boat, and that's exactly what happened with us a couple of month ago whilst we were fishing Roach. The roach was fighting hard, and as I went to try and land it, it swam hard up the bank with the Pike following. When we pulled it out you could see where he Pike had had it's teeth on it.

Now the Trout; I like the eating part, I'm not sure I want to stand up to my boobs in cold water to catch them though

A northern pike is a weapon similar to a big heavy spear that used to be carried by both the Lancastrians and Yorkists and I think it's now the main weapon in the Australian Army Armoury. The manual of arms is really something to behold !!

Can you imagine being such a pathetic troll that your contribution to humankind is hijacking a thread about someone's dead pet(s)?

Poor, pitiful, wasted life.

Someone has to speak on behalf of the poor dog violently killed due to its owner's negligence. There was more than just the human involved here. Don't like it.... tough shit.

Actually you have no fucking clue how well the dogs were secured, for all you know some asshole opened the gate. So you automatically assume Jeff must have done something wrong and act like a total asshat. Real class act there.
