Republicans delay Senate healthcare vote

US Senate Republicans have delayed a vote on their healthcare bill until after next week's 4 July holiday.

The announcement by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell deals a blow to their promise to replace Obamacare.

Five Republican senators had vowed to oppose the bill, and the party could only afford to lose two votes to get it passed in the upper chamber.

US president Donald Trump has invited all Senate Republicans for a Tuesday afternoon meeting at the White House.

A similar version to the bill has already passed the House, after facing a similar delay.

The news of a delay comes just one day after the non-partisan Congressional Budgetary Office said the bill would strip 22 million Americans of health insurance over the next 10 years.

They've had 7 years, what is there to not vote on? Its junk, the last 60+ were junk, the next 60+ will be junk. Vote no to junk and onto the next thing.

And trump had so many "wonderful things people had yet to think off" - and the republican jackals had 8 years mwaaah Handsome Obama care, and they would, combined replace it with? Vacuous rhetoric does that count?

Bita might appear here swearyman, yes this very hovel, on Friday...

Only 5 stand against something cobbled together in two weeks swearyman. Do you have 100 or 101 I forget if the speaker counts? Whats that enabling treason weasels name again

Now, people think that 22 million is 6% of the population it is not, it is nearer 12-25%

They couldnt write a good plan, they were too busy trying to repeal the ACA and shutting down the govmnt, oh and creating all those jobs they ran on making.

I do notice the rightie posters are leaving this well alone, I wonder why when they are winning so hard, so many victories.

I went to the NY times and downloaded it all, and now have it in a six page formatted doc
Im adding relevant links to screen caps, vid clips, rally and other "moments of lies", tweets and reporting about it....its becoming cumbersome with so much bs to have to relive...
waste of time, but im enjoying myself.

FR
I'm not the least bit surprised. I've been telling my dad all along that this is all just bs propaganda and it will never pass.

I'm afraid it will.. the political pressure is enormous and it is just a matter of time before a disastrous GOP healthcare plan is passed. It will happen despite the fuck ups by Trump.

What is a shame is that a bipartisan plan could have been hashed out the would have excluded the radicals of both parties and passed. But the Republicans are determined to make the same mistake the Democrats did... exclude the other party and pass a bill that will only last until the Democrats retake congress...and they will eventually.

There is room for the ideas of both parties that with some compromise could put together a unique American style healthcare bill that could stand a change in ruling political parties. What we need is new leadership of both parties and congressmen and women that have the guts to oppose the radicals of their constituencies. There is no reason liberals and conservatives cannot work together for the good of America over their party if necessary.

Remember Nancy Pelosi and the ACA. ' We have to pass the bill to know what is in the bill. Maybe, just maybe the GOP will take a little longer and do it right this time.

Do you think either the House or Senate proposals are...."Getting it right"?... If you do you are not ill... older....or poor.

(Strangely, he didn't do a cartoon about the fact that the delay has clearly been imposed to allow more time for backroom negotiating and seedy deals to gain support...)

I hope it DOES go through.
The resulting agony could be enough to pave the way for a true single payer system.

Except in the GOP's case, they're trying to think up shit they can put in it.

This will be one of history's epic examples of the consequences of unpreparedness.

Just like you " believe"with every mooselamb thread you post, and the creeping overtaking of sharia law.
the death of socialism in europe, and the overtaking of Islam in european countries.
Oh and that socialism means every socialist country is gonna end up like venezuela.

But as this topic is about the healthcare, why can you not actually discuss the possibilities if the bill should pass.
You like it? will it affect you and yours?
Will you have decreased premiums?

Why can they not come up with a plan to replace obama care? After 8 years? that will please republicans? You have the house, the senate and the presidency, such as they are, are you a happy camper with the incompetence?

Will you win with the tax cuts?
just askin
will you answer them honestly ?

Apparently, the GOP hates Veterans https://www.yahoo.com/news/veterans-need-medicaid-speaking-gop-health-care-bill-005909615.html Why am I not surprised?

No, recounting the past. For 6 years they ranted and raved and repealed to replace . . . and all the while they had nothing. NOTHING! Not even an outline. Absolutely no clue what to do next, and NOBODY apparently sat down and said, "Hey, lads, we really should hammer out something ready to go in case we ever get the chance to run with it."

Complete unpreparedness. Thank god the military doesn't run that way. Military brass has scenarios ready for global warming consequences -- because those people are good at what they do.

This bill has a 17% approval rating.

Even Republicans dislike it, with a 35% rating.
