Unless they've improved them so they don't blot all the time, I predict it to be a short lived fad.

Changing a typewriter ribbon, or a golfball in those type machines ( oh the joy of getting that bloody ink all over your fingers when changing a ribbon). Carbon paper. Blotting paper.

A really nice fountain pen is pretty reliable and unfussy. Sadly the ones people were forced to use in school back in my day weren't, but were more or less guaranteed to put you off using the things if you could avoid them in future. Amusingly these Noodlers things that seem to be big with the young hipsters are far worse than a cheap school pen from the '70s or '80s, so it's possible they're deliberately fetishising the annoying elements of a fountain pen by using crappy ones.
Takes all sorts, eh?

that you used in your childhood that today's "youngster's" would wonder what the heck you're talking about.

I'll start:

Audio cassette tapes to tape my favorite songs from the radio.
Metal ice trays that caused freezer burns if not used w/protection

Philco black and white tv with tubes.
A whisky still my uncle's ran
A portable lumber Mill powered by a tractor drive shaft
An outdoor well
An outhouse
Cast iron porcelain enameled wood burning stove with a water tank on the side to heat water for the sink/ bath
Hand pump in kitchen and bathroom
Oyster tongs (watermen will get this)
Telephone Party line (not the 900# kind)
Roller skate key

Clam rakes. Wading out in water that's supposed to be only waist high and dragging them through the mud. Then having to bend over to get them out of the rakes and into the bucket. Yes, maybe the water was waist high when you're 6' tall. At my much reduced height, I risked drowning to get the damn clams.

Operators answering the phone when you picked it up with "Number Please ?'
Having to book overseas calls and sometimes wait hours to be connected....................I waited for 3 hours once for a call to be connected from London to Hamburg. These days you can almost fly there in that time.
Five Pound notes the size of a small table cloth, all black and white ( I have one framed and on my wall *smile*) The new ones are the size of a baseball card and look like play money

I think old computer games might be a whole other thread: remember the fuss about Space Invaders when those started appearing?

Point. Common sense should maybe keep people out of Walmart, though?

Except when Walmart is the only viable, inexpensive option.
