I mean, I have to say, to me, it doesn't feel like I've ever put any energy into, much less developed any philosophy of, my non-belief in flying turnips or elves that pogo-stick up and down my street. (Though this is partially explained by my only just having thought of those two examples, admittedly.)

OK, why don't you explain the differences, then? I'm happy to replace 'nonbelief' (even though that isn't a word) with 'lack of belief, if that helps. As for religion - why couldn't I have a religion that derives from elves on pogo-sticks?
