For all those out there with DIY dungeons, what makes yours special? Any tips for a couple thinking of getting creative?

LadyPact -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/10/2017 5:20:07 PM)

I have a pretty good set up. Some of the key points that makes mine special:

MP (my husband) made me a killer cross. It's my favorite piece of dungeon furniture.

The downstairs(basement) is over 1000 sq ft. Tons of room for anything I want to do.

Huge bonus. Full guest bedroom and bath down there.

Kitchenette. Doesn't sound like a big deal but I think it's great. It's not big, but it's more than enough for entertainment purposes. In the alternative, great place for making candles for play. Cabinet space for dishes, snacks, fridge, sink, and microwave.

Toy accommodation. Between the two of us, we have a huge toy collection. This allows us to hang most of the floggers and such on the walls without people seeing it/them if they don't go downstairs. For the stuff that doesn't hang, we have an old living room suit for the table space and such.

I love it. It's the best dungeon I've ever had.

LP,

Lovely to hear You truly enjoy Your place! Indeed, one can appreciate the bedroom and other facilities in the basement. [;)]

Was in Fairbanks once ... and appreciate the beauty of a well appointed basement. [:D]

Have a wonderful time.

And of course, best wishes to You and MP

If you are a couple with means simply purchase a castle.
If you are couple without means then purchase one bucket & one spade and go to your nearest beach and build a castle. Then apply to your relevant historical agency for a huge grant for its upkeep, restoration and application for World Heritage Status . Take the huge cheque and cash it in and then blow the lot on a nice castle.

the hidden entrance

MisJess -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/18/2017 3:19:34 AM)

I have a small (7m x 7m) space that I'm going to use as a dungeon.

One corner used to contain a half-bath that I've torn out and placed a drain in the floor and a hose/shower. I wish I'd thought about the kitchenette before I finished the floor.

Other than a cross (I tend to like bondage from ropes attached to eyebolts in the rafters and floor—I didn't forget those), what furniture do people find most useful?

I already have a decent bed and I was thinking about stocks, but I'm not sure I can build those. Any idea where I can get plans for furniture? I'd rather build my own than buy it.

From behind a grandfather clock that swings open when the hands are set to the time your parents were shot?
(Wait, that's the Batcave not a dungeon...)

I want a Narnia dungeon that you enter through a wardrobe ....

WhoreMods -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/18/2017 6:39:07 AM)

With the White Witch in leather?

The kitchenette was just kind of a stroke of luck for us. I've done house parties before when I didn't have one on the 'kink floor' of the house. I like this a lot better.

It depends on your tastes. If you are a medical, electrical, fire, needle, wax, or etc type of player, get yourself some kind of table (massage or otherwise) where the bottom can lay flat and still be at the proper height for you to be comfortable in a standing position. Massage tables are great for this, plus they have the added benefit of being easily stored.

Have you checked out "The Better Built Bondage Book"?

peppermint -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/18/2017 9:57:27 AM)

I believe the most unique dungeon is here. It's an 18 by 50 foot army tent built on a wooden platform. Has 2 wood burning stoves so it can be used in winter. The platform is larger than the tent so we have a porch that overlooks a lovely view. Incinerating toilet is in a shed in the back. Add some electricity so there are lights, refrigerator, music and it's a rather comfy dungeon space.

MisJess -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/18/2017 2:32:40 PM)

Thank you so much for the reply. I've looked a couple of places online and have found a plan for stocks that I understand and that I believe can be tweaked to be exactly what I want. The book was out of print (or I looked in the wrong place). I'll be looking for a drill press when I get back home.

A bondage/massage table is next.

DocStrange -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/18/2017 2:47:42 PM)

Check out Foxy Furniture. They have free plans you can download to build some bondage furniture. The neat part is when you are done using the equipment, you can covert into ordinary furniture that no one would have a clue what it is really used for :)

MisJess -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/18/2017 3:52:26 PM)

I like the look of the foxy furniture, but all those moving parts might be more than I'm capable of doing. I can make things with lots of nice, square joints, but the miter work makes my teeth hurt.

DesFIP -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/19/2017 5:59:10 AM)

Abebooks has some copies. But they're priced rather high.

You stole my idea

WhoreMods -> RE: Building a Dungeon (9/19/2017 11:11:04 AM)

I suspect it's an idea that everyone with certain inclinations who read the Narnia books as a child has had cross their mind at least once, to be fair.

What makes a dungeon special?
To make it special, you need to incorporate the "things" you and your partner enjoy in the dungeon.

For me and my special lady, it is ever piece of rubber outfits and equipment one could imagine. From dresses, catsuits, hoods galore, mummy bags, sarcophagus, vac beds, vac cubes, inflatables and much much more. But I think her favorite toy is the rotating Catherine's Wheel I built. What makes it special to use it that it has our favorite dream toys.

So I would encourage you to think about what you enjoy and incorporate that into your dungeon. Then decorate to add to the mood. Medieval candle holders, chains, mood lighting, Throne chair, etc.
