Taking the knee is showing respect and not disrespectful. The Flag and the Constitution are sacred are the arguments paraded whilst conveniently overlooking the fact they are expressing freedom of speech. At least they have not taken up arms.

Sorry, but the "original kneeler" as you put was protesting about black people being shot to death by policemen, so it has EVERYTHING to do with color... Also I don't think an employer can take away someone's constitutional rights, period. I think that Kapaernick has a valid pont. Stand and respect the National anthem or the flag, or whatever, IF IT DESERVES RESPECT. The way things are right now what is there to rspect? It's just like the Presidency. Seems that people have forgotten this. I would rather see the players take a knee than to see them sit on their butts. There is a bigger picture that everyone seems to be missing. For all the progress this country has made since MLK jr, there is more to be done. For all Americans, not just black ones.

I have mixed opinions about this. First of all, it's NASCAR so I don't care. Other than that, I was taught to humble yourself when praying, by kneeling, and speaking softly, or in your head since God hears all that too, unless you're leading the prayer. So I see any action demanding how someone prays, or if they choose to at all, as a religious violation. I think the National Anthem is an unnecessary dog & pony show, absent of any and all mandated prayer, as Constitutionally required. Thus, the people paying the enormous salaries of these "athletes" have every right to demand whatever they please.

Kinkroids, as I've been writing (and Richards Childress and Petty are fucking accomplices) this is the birth pangs of the capitalist extorted fascism (police state) coming to America. Ridicule all you want but this is the required modern gradual approach with your consent and unlike the Mussolini method using his cult of personality. (remind you of someone ?) Those who fought our wars did so and died to protect our right to kneel down instead of stand to a war song. Nascar will now shrink in audience because they are running out of the bible-toting, flag wavers that drool all over it. (white of course) As has been said and I may be paraphrasing here, fascism will come to America voluntarily...dragging a cross draped in the flag. The very concept of being fired for expressing you constitutional rights, is anathema to our constitutional form of govt. If there any firings in NASCAR, then I suspect there will be lawsuits and that should win. So I am waiting for the first federal court to endorse (sanction) what would be a re-writing of court precedent...nobody can force anybody to sign away their constitutional rights except the military. Well, at least for now...they can't. Just give them time.
