You're going to find that some people are so desperate to talk to anyone that they will email everyone they think has even the slightest chance of getting a response. They will either not read your profile at all (other than your basic stats, such a female and role) or disregard your profile and think they are the exception to the rule. (Such as, if you say local only, they think you'll find them just oh so special that you'll exchange messages anyway.)
I know it's not much consolation, but truthfully, it happens to every female on this site. Heck, my profile is set to middle of nowhere Alaska and I get emails from darn near everywhere. If I get what I consider 'cold calling, first contact' email, I just delete it unread.
If you aren't aware, there's a hover feature that allows you to screen emails without reading the message. It will save you a lot of time.

While I agree that this helps some, I don't agree with the method. I don't think a person should have to penalize themselves from the friendly conversations that they have with people from the forums who happen to be in other countries, just to avoid the idiots that can't understand that not everybody wants to respond to someone they've never interacted with that is half way across the world. To me, it's easier to delete the email that I don't want, rather than stuff going to my bulk mail folder from people that I enjoy exchanging messages with. It's just a different personal preference.
