The complete opposite of everything trump has ever said. Now that answer I would have accepted....just saying mental loon.

They say he has told 2000 plus lies in 10 months?

How the fuck did she not get an Academy Award for that song?

Gigglesnort... probably because they give Grammy's for songs and Academy Awards for movies.

Actually songs do get Academy Awards and this year's Music (Original Song) award goes to
"City Of Stars" from La La Land.
;-)

Just to throw in my 2 cents worth, I believe in universal truth that is objective and not subjective.

Also I believe that there is truth in our everyday lives. If an apple falls to the ground that is truth and to say that it didn't happen that would be an untruth or lie.

The real problem comes when life gets complicated, when truth become subjected to personal opinions.

If someones says; "I don't think the apple fell", if he really doesn't think the apple fell then saying so is truth even though in truth the apple did fall.

In the world we live in these sort reasonings are piled on top of each other so high that most people just give up and just call truth whatever they want to believe and say there is no such thing as objective truth.

Actually, the apple didn't fall... it was pulled to the ground.

tamaka, setting aside that average humans dont have their language defined by esoteric physics:

"fall: to come or go down freely, as by force of weight..." suffices and does so accurately enough.

Applying esoteric physics, the apple pulls on the earth as well.

Or they orbit each other per Einstein, which is beyond human comprehension.

Newton is still searching for the "pull." In his bible maybe.

There is also the problem of sensory organ differentiation. The front of the human brain governs the choices of right vs wrong and moral decisions. In rats the front of the brain is a huge olfactory bulb. Rats are superior smellers, not so much on morals. Some snakes have infra red pit sensors that humans lack. Bats emit vocal sounds that assist them to fly around in dark caves. Humans not so much. So, truth depends on what detectors we have that brings us the information.

there is no universal truth.

This might have been the best place to initiate this conversation.

No.

Nothing is more annoying than people insisting that everything is subjective over and over and then agreeing to disagree.
This is how we get to the point where blatant lies are the equal of established facts, creationism is equal to evolution, climate change isn't real, etc.

I think we can all agree that in terms of our collective human experience, truths definitely exist.

But none of us were present at the beginning, so how can we determine the truth of the event?

Or in modern America, what is truth as it applies to the news media.

The problem with alot of news nowadays is that they EVEN REPORT NEWS of anonymous sources. This seem to be happening most frequently lately with Trump Presidency.

I don't remember seeing the news reporting alot of anonymous sources in Obama Presidency.

It's all these unverified, unnamed, anonymous sources that actually MAKES HEADLINES.

That makes mainstream media very questionable nowadays!

How are we suppose to know if it true? IF they can't even name the source?

We just have to take their words on it? Because they are the MAINSTREAM MEDIA?

It's all like tabloid now.

Anonymous sources are hardly a new development, Greta. The Watergate story wouldn't have been broken back in '72 if Mark Felt hadn't been hiding behind a pseudonym from a porn film when he spoke to Woodward and Bernstein.

We socialize right from wrong through our experiences, but some don't seem to have that gene, do they?

Maybe because Obama kept a low and dignified profile as befits a president of the United States and was not on the Bully Twitter everyday joyfully antagonizing most and maybe because Obama did not pick Cabinet Secretaries who were antithetical to the Departments over which they held sway.
