I am not here most days. I presume the site still goes down on occasions. Most likely their host.
People still having problems getting updated? I recommend don't updating or only update once- with everything you can think off.
I will speculate there is only one person behind the scene and a max of 1 mod. I doubt there are 3 mods.
The reasons profiles need to go for approval these days is laws have changed. And they risk getting massive fines. Not all sites approve. Few do.
The sensible approach is to allow users to report iffy content and bots.
Another core reason is he most likely wants to stop the bots getting in here, and the way the site is setup they can easily get in if he doesn't put a sort of firewall up. An additional layer. He could ask some of the ones who have been here yonks to help with profiles. But that leaves him with issues like who does he trust to do that and what level of access to a basic site he gives them.
Now I have really thought about it I don't know what the update profile approval is all about. I keep see the logic behind doing that with newly created profiles.
