Don't know if anyone mentioned them yet and I'm not reading this many pages of answers but I'd suggest chiggers are the devil of private place discomfort. Anybody fortunate enough to grow up in the country would be familiar with the itchy burning hell they wreak upon your testicles or lady parts. G' head and run through a wheat field in shorts and bare feet on dry ground or crawl around that truck that's been sitting to put a new gas line on her... G' head.
