I want to believe in the integrity of the game... I want to believe teams earn their rewards... The Pats have cheated more that once... they need to be cut from the record books... they are not worthy of a championship.

Butch

And, if you believe that it's only the Pats that have engaged in any questionable conduct, I have a bridge to sell you...Brooklyn or San Francisco, your choice.

The point is, Pats keep getting caught cheating

Sure, other teams probably do cheat. Question is, should an example be set or not, when a team gets caught blatantly cheating? What is the point in having rules if theyre not enforced.

Sportsmanship means nothing?

Ok..."Spygate" is what it is. This whole "Wells inquiry"? As I have said, it's not "blatant". At least, that's the way I see what Mr. Wells had to say.

Someone is "more likely than not generally aware" of something going on? Dang...I'll take that.

Should an "example" be set here? No, I don't think so. Because I don't see that there's "blatant" anything. And, neither did this commission.

What I do think the NFL should do is tighten the rules for all teams. Just have the balls inspected by the teams and the refs the night before the game (or whenever) and then kept under watch. Seems like a simple solution to me.

Right..cheating is not blatant... if it is your team... is that the way it is? But I agree there will have to be proof not just more than likely... but if there is a third slap on the hand will not restore integrity to the game.

I want to believe in the integrity of the game, too. Of course, I also want to believe that someday I'll meet two gorgeous, red-headed, meaty doppelgangers that are as crazy about me as they are about each other. of course, they should both be rich and have an insatiable desire for every deviant activity that I like.

I've lost all faith in sports to the point where I put nothing past these over-paid, prima donna, lying, thieving weasels.

Nope. The Pats ARE my team, but that doesn't change the language of the Wells report.

That Brady (or any player) more likely than not had general knowledge of things doesn't sound *blatant* to me.

It sounds blatant to the people who matter though:

quote:

Tom Brady will be the highest-profile player ever suspended in the 96-year history of the NFL.

Roger Goodell’s decision is expected to be announced next week, and it is no longer a matter of if the NFL commissioner will suspend Brady, but for how long he will suspend him.

In conversations I’ve had with several key sources who always have a good sense of what goes on at 345 Park Ave., there is little doubt that Goodell considers Brady’s role in DeflateGate a serious violation.

We have agreed from the beginning that more than likely is not enough...But... what will your position be if the evidence turns out to be irrefutable?

Are Russell Wilson, Seahawks '10s of millions' apart?

With Brady on the bench... Theres an off chance that Russell Wilson may be available

(And hes a better QB anyway)

The intriguing irony of this whole affair is that the Pats (and Brady) did much better in the second half vs Indy...with properly inflated balls.

I've always thought that man should walk (play) with...properly inflated balls.

A hard rain’s a-gonna fall on Tom Brady and the Patriots

There is no middle.

There is Patriot world, where everything is awesome, Bob Kraft is Gandhi, Bill Belichick is a god, and Tom Brady would never do anything to disgrace the uniform or the game.

And there is the rest of the free-thinking world. Where reality lives.

In Patriot world, the NFL is out to get you. Everybody is out to get you. It’s a conspiracy. It’s a sting. The Wells Report is ridiculously flawed. There are factual errors. The league was OK playing half of the AFC Championship game with footballs that might have not been inflated properly. The other 31 franchises are insanely jealous of the Patriots’ success. A couple of New England’s adult ball boys maybe went off the reservation, but all the evidence against the Patriots is circumstantial. The league has nothing.

In the rest of the free-thinking world, the Patriots are liars and cheaters. They were caught red-handed in Spygate in 2007 and now the league has got them again. The Patriots intentionally and systematically deflated footballs, below legal limits, to accommodate Brady. They did it because they believed it gave them a competitive advantage (more completions, less fumbling, better play in bad weather — all Patriot trademarks). Brady knew about it, lied about it, then withheld information from the Wells investigators.

None of the above is going to change. Folks are going to align themselves with one side or the other. Even after the penalties are announced.

It feels like the sanctions are coming soon. And it’s pretty clear that the NFL has made up its mind about this...

I have to agree...with the overpaid, prima donna part. I mean remember when football was fucking football?? buncha ballerinas now...no wait, ballerinas are hard. I wish things would go back to honor and wanting to be a better team. shit sucks

But... Cheating is in the blood of football ... And all sports. We send our kids to play "pop warner" football. Pop Warner cheated like hell, and because of him the game is the game we play today. He started throwing the ball as a way to bend the rules. This game was founded on cheating, and by god damn it I support it.

LMAO-- the Seahawks have another couple of years before they even have to worry about losing Wilson. He's got one year left on the rookie contract, and then slap the franchise tag on him a couple of times. He's not going anywhere.

True, and official. Four games, a million dollars, their 1st round draft pick next season, and a draft pick to be named later in the article.

I didn't think that Goodell had the fucking balls enough to do this. Glad to see I was wrong.

Seems that he pissed off the league by not cooperating fully.

What does my heart good is that I just spoke to a Jets fan who sees this for the complete and utter bullshit that it is.

What the heck would the NFL do if there was actual proof?

San Francisco defensive tackle Darnell Dockett's reaction in a tweet was: "You have to love the patriots. They do anything to win a Super Bowl."
