My corset came the other day and I totally love it. Wore it to Mr. Russian River Leather contest and even bootblacked in it for a bit. Time to wash and condition it with some Huberd's. Just wish I had some Aussie.

OMG please don't!
Overconditioning a leather corset, especially very light deerskin (what AE uses) is really not best for the structure of the garment -- especially not with Huberds intended for oiltans!  I'd be using Fiebings lotion, or the little bottle of Obenaufs lotion (that junk that smells like wheat bread.....)

Here's good advice:
-- Stormy recommends recon every 6-9 months.
-- Dark Garden recommends "occasionally" or "as needed", being sure not to wet the leather because of the steel boning.
"Keep your Leather Corset supple by treating it with a leather conditioner.  Take the worn garment to a trusted leather drycleaner about once a year. Always make leather professionals aware this is a steel boned garment."

I wouldn't wash it persay. Just use a bit of soap to pull off the lipstick someone left on it which is nowhere near the boning. And I would probably use Aussie or a bit of the Fiebing's on it. My corset is made of lambskin and the buckles are supersoft. I've cared for some of the best leather out there and I know what to look for. But thanks for the warnings anyhow Mistress Pandora. I really don't trust any of the leather drycleaners out here. None of us do.

So, for everyone that uses Alter-Ego, how durable is their stuff? And how true to size?

Mistress Pandora, I seem to be shaped similiarly to you. I have a 44-46D cup size but I know that waist size is more important. My jean size is a 26-28 closer to the 26 size with a waist measurement of (hang on grabbing tape) of around a 52. My utilikilt is a 54 and the fat fold just above that is a few inches bigger. The size 54 crappy japanese intimate apparels corset I used to wear with the plastic boning would dig into the top of my bottom and would snap in that fold. I think mainly because I am short. (5'3" on a good day)

Short of ordering a custom stormy which I just can't afford right now what size alter ego should I be looking at? And any styles that would look better than others?

I wear a 26/28  so you seem about the same size I am... so what I wear on alter ego is the 3x/4x/5X there is a gap in the back where the lacing is but I like that... also if I ever decide to loose some weight I can still fit in this corset... that is why I do not just buy the 4/5X corset which almost closes completely.

that's the only place i found them as well ms. opal. but it's okay i had no problems whatsoever. we ordered two and got them less than 2 days later. ordered them sunday, could have worn them out tuesday night. they are awesome, broke in really well, and stood up to Mama's Ho super tight lacing it. He's Mama's official corset tier. But I think it is part of Mama's Family Protocol that we all know how to tie Mama's corsets...

I can add in a vote for alter ego, they are amazing, well priced, gorgeous sensual items, I have about 5 of their corsets and even with having them shipped to the UK it's half the price of buying over here and amazing quality, plus they really do the job well!

I just got a new lambskin corset from Alter Ego - mmm - love it!  It's actually comfortable (for a corset) although I haven't laced it in super tight yet.  And from the reaction I have received, I would say it is quite attractive too.    It fits better in the bust area than the silk corset I have from Stormy Leather - I think I'm just not so big on top as someone with my hip span normally would be.

As far as sizing - I wear a 14-16 in "regular" clothes - the XL fits well with room to lace tighter as I (hopefully) lose weight.

I let her know she had several fans on this site and that was where I heard of her items - think she got a laugh out of that based on what she put in my feedback!
