People have died over them...... OMCs were known for awarding patches for display on colors. Depending on the woman, the amount of her flow, and your approach (from above as vs. from below) it may just appear on your face as though you're wearing a lot more of it. Putting down a disposable depends makes things much tidier for easy clean-up afterward and to protect the bedding from stains as well. Remember its not just the blood, women do respond with their own natural juices that mix with their menstrual blood as well, making it appear to have more volume. Like many here, I think that everyone should play the way they want to play...To me, I find that since I'm usually extremely excitable while I'm menstruating. I'll have a sub eat me if that's what I'm craving, but otherwise, I may just ask him to simply fuck me or fist me...There are so many options out there, how can a Gal chose just one?

I have allowed this to happen whenever it came up. Its not usually a big bloody issue for me, and since I prefer clit stimulation the menses aren't really involved. But its not like I go out of my way to do it, or avoid it. Its more like if it happens it happens. I have involved it in blood play on purpose though. That is a long story. And I dated a more vanilla guy ages ago who had a HUGE fetish for it. I mean huge. He loved it. And him getting off on it so much got me off on it, but that was pretty situational. I've never had any taboos about it, or any weirdness in general. When I was little I asked obvious questions to my mother and she gave me obvious and open answers in response. The comment about the similarity between a tampon's string and a teabag's brings back the memory of an experience I had in Germany in the '80's. I was serving tea to my Mistress and a female guest. She asked me to fetch a third cup, empty, and excused herself for a moment. When she returned she handed me the cup with a very used tampon and told me to fill it with the boiling water. She told her friend that she likes to occasionally serve 'red tea' to deserving slaves! I appreciated the compliment, and found the 'tea' very refreshing. gm

As a concept I have no problems with it. As a reality it is a no-go however. During my period I am sick, miserable, crampy etc etc & the thought of any sex is a huge turn off. Chocolate & a heating pad are the things I really want! I think if I had lighter periods it wouldn't matter as much & I see no taboo with red wing play. Just the opinion of a female that isn't Domme :)

When I did menstruate (on Depo-Provera and have been since 2002) my partner at the time really did not care either way. I was slightly squicked about it, but found once he got me going I didn't want to stop. Had more stamina and was much more horny while on my period. We just laid a towel down and got on with it. I believe his only response regarding it, ever, was the first time. He just fingered me, and when I'd finally gotten exhausted, he examined his hand and said "Cool! I look like I've been in a war!" then went to wash up and get me a wet towel. I think, personally, that I'd want to use protection if I were performing oral on a menstruating woman. Just because, while I don't think period blood is ewwickygross, I don't really want to end up swallowing it, you know?

One (of many) reason I got into this scene in the first place is because of my interest in ummm... 'unorthodox' religious practices. It is a feature in sexual magick of most kinds for male and female sexual fluids to be mingled, and the combined fluid to be ingested by one or (preferably) both parties. It's a major feature in Tantric sex, for example (real Tantric sex, as practised by South Asian Tantrics, not the kind that ends up in your local bookstore). In most of these traditions, a woman on her period is regarded as being the most powerful she can possibly be (which is probably the original reason patriarchal cultures segregated her, not because they they regarded her as unclean, but because they feared her power). In magickal terms then, it makes much more sense to combine and ingest the fluids of a menstruating woman than at any other time. My Mistress and I have done this many times, and it's really no big deal. In fact, as I write, we currently have a small sample in our freezer for use when she's not on her period LOL. As a previous poster (sorry, can't remember the name without going back a couple of pages) recommended, I too heartily recommend Penelope Shuttle and Peter Redgrove's book "The Wise Wound". It's THE definitive book on menstruation and all its symbolic associations.

This activity is not my personal preference. I would rather have a nice warm bath, herbal tea and a full body massage with relfexology on the feet to relieve the cramps. Once my cycle is over, oral sex and intercourse take top priority. YMMV, Vendaval
