The reason that we have been taught our whole lives that a woman on her period is bad is because, historically, procreation was the number one job of a woman ... and a woman on her period is a "bad woman" because she isn't pregnant.  Doesn't make it true ... but that's where at least 90% of the stigma comes from.

I will say this though, to anyone who is trying to get pregnant - the Jewish tradition of no touching during the 'unclean' time is a very good idea.  Abstaining for that little while every month makes it more likely that a pregnancy will occur.

It actually goes back to the whole ancient Jewish rules against blood. Pagans used blood in all their rituals - and the Jews were set apart my all those 100s of rules.

Thanks pixel, I'll have to read up about the massage techniques..as for the tampons, I bleed through the biggest one they have in under an hour...just easier to skip the heavy days.
I have had someone perform oral on me on one of my lighter days, and ya know, its all good...course, he was in a good position, had his head in my lap..I wouldn't rule it out completely, just really not my thing.

Actually, george, I believe that you will find that most pagan groups had their issues with menstruation as well - "moon huts" to keep the women separated, and so on.

Suppose I should have looked this up first but it is late.  If I remember right the moon hut stuff was native american/canadian.  pagans had no problem with a menstrating woman as woman were sacred in their culture.

Ok, substitute "ancient cultures" for "pagan" ... mistake made in phrasing, but the fact remains that the stigma of menstruating females is NOT a result of the Jewish prohibition of blood - it's found in many cultures around the world from waaaaaayyyyyy back.  Plus, I would like to point out that I said "and so on" - meaning there are other examples, that was just the one that came to mind at the moment.

I know that many pagan and other ancient cultures venerated women - as the "earth mother" and as procreators (among other things, but those are what the totems show most often) ... which is most of why a menstruating woman was seen as bad - again, a menstruating woman is not a pregnant woman, so she was not fulfilling her role as a woman in the eyes of the various cultures.

The massage techniques I mentioned are something I've never specifically read about.  Instead, they're mostly things that I learned on my own.  I have a very good sense of touch, and followed my instincts to discover things that genuinely worked for my former Mistress/spouse.  They are very intimate in their nature, and not something you'd want to have a beginner try to do for you. [8|]
 
However, the reflexology maps will clearly show you or your sub where to apply pressure to the feet, ankles and/or hands to help you during your periods.  The book which I learned from is: ‘The Family Guide to Reflexology’ ©1998 by Ann Gillanders, which I purchased from Amazon a number of years ago.  I believe she has written several books on Reflexology and would have no problem recommending this particular book to others.  I will also add, that in my experience, Reflexology applied to the hands is not nearly as easy or effective as when applied to the feet instead. While this is something i've never done...it's something i'd like to experience at some point...for one reason or another, it just hasn't come up.

A little bit off topic though...when i was in my 20s...i'd taken a woman to a wedding, and afterwards we'd gone to a hotel room to enjoy each other...well, she never told me she was having her period, and she had what she described as a heavy flow..however she described this after the fact, and as we were fucking, i looked down to see my cock covered in blood...it totally freaked me out until she fessed up to the flow...after that i was good with it, and we continued on, after totally screwing up some hotel sheets and towels...but it scared the living hell out of me before i knew what was going on...she didn't know it at the time, but it was a bigtime mindfuck.

I do not have my cycle any longer.  Who Hoo, I have been fixed! LOL
