Greetings tml721

quote:

Thank you both. I was beginning to think I'd wasted my time asking the question. I'm looking at a young lady who is of Gor and I was wondering if I had her, if SHE would mind a second slave for other duties. I think this answers my question now.

I sort of felt this needed it’s own thread.

In answer to the above statement I am going to say in all honestly and practicality, it works that smoothly on paper only.  Actual practice may differ.  There is nothing in the Gorean way of thinking that prohibits poly households, though, finding the right people to make it work may well be a whole different ball game.  Some homes work awesome, and some fall apart at the seams.  Finally, just because someone has Gorean slapped to their forehead doesn’t mean they are Gorean, or are able to live in such a household (among other things).  You have to do your homework as much as she does, or it is all a complete waste of time.

Jahna,

You just -had- to post this after I responded (laughs.)

I'll fix it up and put a redirect link on the other thread.

TML,

The issue's not really one of 'right or wrong' here.  By strict Gorean interpretation, a man may own as many slaves as he wishes.  He may also have one 'Free Companion' - a submissive position (on the surface) to the man, but a dominant position to all of the slaves.

However, while this is one aspect of Gor, there's a good deal of evidence from the books that the author believed in a 'one perfect woman for every man, one perfect man for every woman' ideal.  As one must always decide what aspects of Gor they actually wish to incorporate into their actual lives, it isn't unfair for a slave girl to require fidelity and monogamy.  After all, the last choice she expects to have is whom to beg a collar of.

In my experience, many Gorean slaves tend to be open to a poly setting.  Keep in mind, though, that what you do, in your house, with consenting adults is your business.  The 'Gorean police' aren't going to show up at your door and fine you or your slave.

Good luck,

Stephan

Tal Jahna,

I'm going to make this short and to the point. No Bull like references and such....

If you noticed in the novels, even though the books are not rules to live, by they have examples that we like to references when we have a philosophical crisis. As afr as Poly goes I just want you to understand that I view Poly as a part of a lifestyle where everyone sees living an open sexual experience. They are safety minded and loyal for the most part to their "core" group, be that a family type unit or a social group of some type. I don't think just because one man sleeps with everything in site that qualifies him as poly. Ok, or a woman that meets this description.

Take the return of the Torvies from a bout of pillage and conquest, they return and feast. It seems that one man was the head of the clan, he in fact by the ruling order owned all that the clan had, but all the females aside from a free companion, were accessible to all the warriors and all the warriors in most cases tasted all the sluts at least once, though I'm sure that the girls had favorites as did the men. Or so it would be in actuallity. So in that reguard it would seem Poly is an obvious part of our lifestyle. Hmmm, Goreans excersising BDSM, go figure. All that and no long drawn out story, amazing, simply amazing.

Live well,

Bull

Greetings Bull

I never said it wasn’t part of the lifestyle, one would have to be blind not to see that it is on many levels. I have even been part of it.   Some have slaves in addition to FC or simply more then one slave.  The service that the slave(s) provide are as varied as there are men, and often that even changes.  My point is simply, often times the actual application of this choice isn’t as pretty as we would like it to be on paper.

Tom,

As mentioned in other posts out here, www.abebooks is a great website to buy the books.   There is also a book store in Tipp City that has them, Browse Awhile Books, in downtown Tipp.  You might check there as well.

And being that we are neighbors, perhaps sometime you'd like to meet us  for coffee.

Tom,

Yes, that is exactly the bookstore I am referencing.   Sure, sounds great, let me check with my FC, and we can set a place for coffee.
